I've studied Spanish, Italian, and Japanese, and I was wondering if there's any reason that Japanese would have the Romance Languages' word for bread, under the same meaning. Was it brought over by Spaniards or something?

It would have been a contribution from Portuguese colonizers in or around the 15th ? Century.
