Hide was the lead guitarist of legendary Japanese heavy metal band X (aka X-Japan)
X was the first heavy metal band I listened to and it made me started to like metal music.

he is very popular,many people are still crazy about him although he passed away 5 years ago.
but I have to say the rhythm guitarist Pata was better than him,
for the guitar skills and song-writing skills.

Of course i know who hide is (look at my avatar ^^), last night i actully cried due i read how many people loved him and how J (from Luna Sea) and Yoshiki (from X Japan) saw hide as a big brother. He shouldnt of died. But other then that, i would love to go to the museam, the LEMONed store (probally turn broke in the first 5 minutes ^^), hair salon, and restruant.

yah, I've heard of hide. Everytime I hear something about him or
X Japan it just gets me so sad. He was loved and adored by so many ppl, it was truly a dreadful trajedy..

I just started to listen to hide about a month and a half ago. I can't believe that I didn't find out about him when I was in Japan. I just watched the Pink Spider PV yesterday, and hide is absolutely amazing. I can see why he has such a large fan base.

I have the "Blue Blood" album and a few PV's. I like their sound a lot also. Thanks for the offer! I have a lot of other Japanese music, so I give an offer like that to you. If you have AIM, you can IM me and see if I have what you're looking for. I have a lot of very recent stuff, but I may very well have what you're looking for.

Others on this forum are allowed to do the same. Just keep in mind, I don't have everything, but I do believe that people should be able to enjoy music, so I try and spread the joy of music. I also have a few PV's, but those are limited.

Of course I know who is hide-sama, he must be worshipped.. And it seems that I'm not only person who likes hide. Someone talk about crying... I have many X-Japan and hide mp3s and videos at my computer [I know, I should buy CDs but it's quite difficult, I can explain later], and sometimes when I think hide I want to watch those videos and listen music... It makes me cry. Maybe it sounds crazy to cry for people who I never even met or something, but maybe I just am so emotional. I cry for hide, actually it happens very usually, especially at weekends -_- Okay, my first message to here and you already think that I'm crazy.

By the way, sorry for my bad English, I'm from finland..

Considering hide's life was all about partying (celebration!), i don't think people should cry for him. I reccon he wouldn't have wanted it that way.

Listening to his music gives me a lot of energy and makes me want to tear down the house. :)

Here in Finland people are.. well, kind of stupid. Maybe you don't understand it, and you have to come here and see it by your own eyes, but.. There's no any kind of japanese CDs here in Finland. I would buy CDs from here, surely I would, but simply I don't have a chance. Buying from the net is not impossible, all those need some kind of credit card and I or my family don't have that kind of things... [in Finland it's not so essential thing]

I feel bad because I load those stuff and don't buy CDs, but that's only way I can listen japanese music.

If you're truly motivated to start purchasing some actual Japanese CDs, it is actually possible to do it without even a credit card. There are some reliable stores on the Internet which do business by using the International Postal Money Order... I figure being "international" those would be available worldwide.

Memorial CD Shop OTOKICHI does this sort of business, and I was very pleased with their service. They're a used CD store, so they may not have the most recent J-Pop releases, but they have a wide variety of CDs available in almost every style of music... if you feel like it, check them out!

The idea that someone might not know who Hide is...is a little hard to believe...I thought everyone knew who he was. Played in X aka X-Japan probably one of the most influencial J-rock bands of all time, eventually joined with Spread Beaver and made some pretty memorable music there as well and was probably one of the most visual J-rockers

i would be surprised if some day somebody would come to me asking am i fan of hide/x japan/ any kind of japanese music. really, from this !@#$ village, i know just six other people who even know what is japanese music. and they know only x.. that's more than great, but still. there's many other great bands in japan, they could know much more. no one else here knows who hide is -.-;;;~

I love hide much much!! And "Goodbye" makes me cry...:( I was about to turn eight when he died. I wish he was still alive to make more of his myooooooosic....... I just recently really got "into" hide but i've known who he is ever since I started listening to J-rock. Which was...about half a year ago...? hm. I love hide. It seems he was a very good person. And his pink hair makes me happy:bluush:

Really, I don't see why he killed himself. No one could ever find a reason. His career was taking off and he had an even brighter future ahead of him.

I wonder if any psychic ever tried to contact his spirit to ask him why he did it. I am sure that doing that would ease some of the pain that all of his friends, family, and fans have continued to feel over the years.

Hello!

Two months ago I haven't known japanese music yet! I'm from Europe and I love rock, heavy-metal...
But on the sale I bought X-Japan's "Ballad Collection", salesman told me I would love, it if I like rock and he was right "it's great, marvelous.."
I wanted to learn more about them, so I've read couple of websites about X-Japan and on the one its author had written, he likes Hide's "Choo mo goc" very much.
I've looked for this song in net-shops, but it wasn't on all Hide's CD's track list !!! Has this song got a one title more or doesn't exist?

Please, help me !!!

Hmm... It's strange to read what audrey has written here. Being a Finnish person, I'm in a similar situation with my Asian musical taste. But I have original music products from Asia. So, audrey, it's not impossible to get them, you just haven't tried hard enough. And it's not even that expensive! Finnish CDs cost a fortune! Luckily, I haven't been listening to Finnish music since 1998. :wave:

I read on some web site that hide's death was a accident. I should have saved the link damn it! I still have the article. the sad thing is I have no clue where it came from and who wrote it. So I don't know if it was a crazzed fan or actuall press released. Well, here it is.
This was officially announced that hide didn't commited suicide, but it was a really sad and dreadful incident. Let's explain it: because guitar players have to hang their guitars down for a long periods of time and also have to arch their necks while playing, they tend to have bad stiff shoulders. A "popular" way of treating these stiff shoulders is to pull back the head, which is doing like a massage. Most of hide's friends confessed that he often did that kind of treatment at home, by hooking a towel at the door knob, to his neck. That morning, he came back drunk, and did this massade. Unfortunatly, he fell asleep during the "treatment", smashed by alcohol.....and never wakes up. He involontary strangled himself.

That was all there was. Does any one know anything about this? Please tell me that this article is true!

Has anyone ever seen ALIVEST Perfect Stage? its a DVD, I got it online. I was wondering if its any good. it's the first hide DVD I have purchased.

is hard to believe that hide is not known in here....one of the first jrock songs ive ever heard was PINK SPIDER i was so impressed! still one of my fav songs

Me too, luna.... The first think I ever heard about him was that he was dead. Even with that, sometimes I forget he isn't alive anymore. Anyway, I heard he was amazing after that and downloaded half of "Everfree" for the heck of it. And I thought his voice was annoying so I didn't download the rest of it:p ...but later I decided to give it a second chance and I downloaded "Goodbye", which I instantly fell in love with. And I'm a huge fan to this day.:clap: And I like "Everfree" now. :)

I agree with you shrink wrap, I thought his singing was strange but i love him now:love: the same thing happened with one of my other favorite artists. Kana, she is a japanese singer, i have found that not many people know who she is. When I first listened to her I was like what the hell is this, and now I'm obessessed. I find that happens alot. same with gackt,but he isn't as good as hide.(I think that gackt was at his best when he was with malice mizer).Hide is the ultimate kickass rocker.

http://hide.immortalised.net has a few mp3's for download....enter the site and click "flows" at the bottom and then click "music". For the others, I used WinMx...http://www.winmx.com. WinMx is kinda hard to use, but once you figure it out, it's easy. You should search on Google or something for "winmx help" and it will help you along. I knew he was in a band before x japan, but I have never actually heard them. Are they good? well, I mean how good are they compared to hide's other work. It is a band hide was in so I assume it can't be too bad.

it's more straight forward thrash metal,for me it's a lot better than what he went on to do but i doubt many would agree with me about that!!
back in those days exctacy records was still putting out hardcore and thrash records.
That "devil must be driven out with devil "comp is classic cuz along side sabre tiger u have lipcream and ghoul!Great lp!

All I know is that I love hide and he will never really die if we remember him and the impact his music made.

I love Hide. First song of his I heard (solo) was 'Pink Spider'. Wow, he has a great voice! He was awesome during his XJapan years, too. (I am so sad he is no longer with us! :bawling:.)

I am shocked that people don't know who Hide is. When i read the title for this thread, i thought, how silly, how could they not know? Then when I read it, o_O, I found out that truth really is weirder than fiction.

Thats a really good question, i can't find them either. Maybe they are not published or wern't written down :confused: I know sometimg like that happened with malice mizer's color me blood red. some one told me that they wern't written.

We all mourn hide's death ( if you don't you should XD) I wish I could have gone to one of his concerts. All we have now are concert DVD's. (if you like hide get a concert DVD, his concerts are fun to watch)

X Japan disbanded in 1997. members: Toshi , Vocals - Yoshiki, Drums, Piano - hide, Guitar - Pata, Guitar - Taiji, Bass [1980-1992], Heath, Bass [1992 -1997].

hide had a solo career during and after X Japan. Fronted 2 bands at the same time before his death; Spread Beaver and Zilch.

I'd recommend his albums Ja,Zoo and hide your face.

hide is absolutely the most important musician with all the mates of x japan!!!!!and don't forget he had been my first husband :-)
anyway even if the museum is now closed and i didn't get the occasion to be there hide and x will never die and will always be the human gods of my short life!
and don't forget that yoshiki is still alive and he's absolutely talented for piano (and he was for drums even if he had to quit with that) and i will continue to play endless rain...until it won't rain anymore..
endless rain fall on my heart kokoro no kizu ni let me forget all of the hate all of the sadness.....
i suggest to everybody with a minimal interest in music to try x japan once..you will never forget them.
and you have to try also hide solo music..great really!

There is no really best song, i think it just comes down to personal opinion and interests. ^___^ I'd download albums if I were u lol, try tonberry torrents, I think they have a hide discog learing about.

I prefer him in X Japan, if u want my opinion. ^^ Their older days tho.

I haven't got very many X Japan songs ( ~ashamed~ ). Those I have got, I like them, but I commented in another forum that I found they use quite similar intervals and chord progressions in all of the songs that I have. And someone recommended to me Dahlia album as their most diverse. So maybe that's a good first album to listen to. :p

That sucks :( he's such an amazing legend, how can people NOT wanna talk about him, he was genious. I adore him with all my heart. Every time I watch even a fan video I burst into tears because of the thought that the world lost such a talented musician hurts, especially 'cuz he could've been known around the world better by now if he was still alive

I dunno but to me he kinda made rock his own, I mean I love him better in X-Japan than solo, but only by a little bit 'cuz X-Japan was an awesome band, but his solo work was his own ideas and inspirations so I respect for thatI think so, as well. I don't think anybody else possessed such a unique sound back then. I crazy about songs like Beauty & Stupid, Genkai Haretsu, Hi Ho and I could go on forever but I don't want my fingers to bleed. Even today, I don't think songs posseses what hide songs had. I'm not saying they are bad, but I guess some are lacking.

I love hide thanks to my best friend ^^. I don't own very much of his stuff because I also can't find it unless I go to little tokyo in LA and I can't afford to all the time. I do own the perfect singles collection and Zilch 3.2.1 it's one of the hardest cd's to find, i've only found it once and I won it on ebay, I haven't even seen it at all on yahoo japan auctions or in any cd store.

and i have to say that x japan was an awesome band and
hide's solo career was worth it too. i can't say which i like
better, x's music or hide's but these days they don't make
same kind of music, it's true. i like newer bands but somehow
i notice that i listen to old music more than new or recent
at least. i find myself listening to the older x albums and
older albums by which ever band. i dunno maybe i am just so
nostalgic person haha.

and what it comes to the songs made with zilch, they're pure
gold. i have heard some of the music zilch made after hide
passed away and it's not that good at all, sorry, it's just my
opinion. these are all just my personal opinions so no need
to get offended okay? ^^

for me hide's solo music is just something so amazing which
i've said a million times (sorry for repeating lol) so i can't
understand ppl who don't like it or even hate it. and music is
business in some parts but i'm sure hide didn't make music
for money. i mean that guy really loved what he was doing!

yepyep, he was a very passionate guy and the thing I love about him most is that you could tell he didn't do it for the money. I mean, the guy was working with AIDs programs and such. To me thats the most important thing, he was unique and caring, but crazy at the same time, I think he sorta pushed the boundaries when it came to his music, much like X

Beyond all the fangirlism, something important about hide is his music eras:

When he started with Saver Tiger, we can see him doing whatever he wanted, from music to style, he was the one who made Visual perfect, and he was doing stuff to feel good, as a good musician does.

Then he joined X, as all of we know (and if you don't know, learn) he had a big wall called Yoshiki... even hide made important contributions to X, he was just an employer of X emporium.

Later he started his solo career: unfortunately he made music to keep fans satisfied, music to be sold just because "hide was crazy", and all the respect I had for that guy went away flushing the toilet... he wasn't a musician anymore, he was a marketing artist.

That's why I respect hide's era from 1984 to 1990, when he really made music, when he was actually a good musician and not a big doll to sell merchandise.

Do you know how many musicians played during the history of X?? more than 40. Do you know why most of them left the band?? because of Yoshiki's attitude.

We shouldn't go so far: Taiji and Toshi.

Taiji: He left the band because Yoshiki never took into consideration his music influences.

Toshi: He just got tired of being a puppet, behaving as Yoshiki said, "you should sing like this, you should feel this way, you should look like you're suffering..." That's why Toshi left the band, to make and sing music that he really feels, and not just a script that Yoshiki wrote to perform on stage and TV.

After all, it was Yoshiki's band, and thanks to Yoshiki's money, they released their first album, after 1991, he managed X and his own image as a brand, you can see that on their releases: "Produced by Yoshiki, Co-produced by X Japan"

And I though they were a band...

About taiji, I knew that (and some other stuff...) on an interview I did to an old friend of him from Trash (Taiji used to play in a punk band in 1983)

About Toshi, because he said that many times in interviews, but hey, japanese fangirls are rabid, and they blamed Toshi unjustify: "he is in a sect" "he was brainwashed by his wife..." when the truth is that he wasn't feeling comfortable with his role in X, in Yoshiki's X.

Yoshiki is devoted, ne? He really did put a lot of effort into X (I mean since he was 12?)As well as the other members of X, they made such an effort to have this band work. Hide...god I don't think anybody could be so f**king awesome, even after death! It's like eerie. I didn't learn about hide till not so long ago and I tell you, he's my reason for playing guitar...he was just beautiful in every aspect of it's meaning. My main goal...to learn how to play Beauty and Stupid because that songs rox my socks.

even though i play bass. and i semi-quit because my teacher left the store i was takin lessons at and then i got sick and i couldnt practice no mores cuz it was too hard to sechdual in between docs, school, and massive amonts of sleep needed. plus my stupid band teacher put me on clarinet because they needed more woodwinds when i hadnt played that since i was 12. baka.

and taiji makes me swoon whenever i see him. because hes amazingly beautiful and plays the bass like nobodys business. and i seem to have a thing for bassists ie- taiji, tetsu, seek, kanon...and i just randomly pick them out before i knwo they play bass..its..odd. and aeosme

When X was "finally" formed, the other lead guitar was Isao (curiously, Pata recommended him to the band) but one day before a show (1987.04.30) he had a motorcycle accident, and Yoshiki called Pata to replace him... and a week later he ended being an official member of X.

That guy (Isao) was even better than Pata on guitar, can you imagine X without Pata??

that guy may have been better than Pata..but Pata and hideto were matched better. they were perfect for eachother skill wise. which is why X is so amazing. not one person was better. which i guess is why i find them so loveable. but i really dont know.Quoted for truth. I mean the names even fit together -Pata and hide- see? I wouldn't change their relationship for the world, even if the Isao guy was a better guitarist.

about the name PATA lol! it makes me laugh all
the time too! you know the word 'pata' means
caldron in finnish aka my language xDD that's
why i find it so funny.

and think about other japanese names like
'kana' that means chicken in finnish xDD ! god
what a funny language heh in a good way of course!

i had french lessons today... we were doing some
listening compherensions and guess who was listening
to hide all the time? not me of course haha so the
teacher noticed me singing at the back and making

and omg. i'm utterly obsessed with this one fanfic, and yes, i have no shame. BUT! its AU, Crossover and many MANy other things. ie- Totchi is married to Miyavi, gackt and Hyde are together, hide is Kaoru's guardian angel and is back on earth from being in heaven because he ****** up big time as an angel and Yoshiki is the cheif of police and Kyo is a cop. its so awesomely messed up. and AND my beloved Pata is a therapist. its beyond awesome.
