i am sorry if this has been posted before but ill ask it any way

i was wondering how much of the cities that i can travel withthe rail pass, i will be staying visiting cities and towns along the bullet train line, i have three months at the end of the year, would i be able to access most of the cities with only a JR rail pass or will i be required to purchase of rail and bus tickets along the way.
plus are there any JR lines that will close due to the cold weather ie; snow or frost.

thanks for your input

You can probably travel to any Japanese city with a Rail Pass within the effective dates of the pass. All you need is a JR train line in the city to use it.

Non-JR lines and subways do not accept the Rail Pass.
