This is certainly a new one ^^;; I didnt know that the Japanese used to throw eggs at fair evaders on tolled roads...thats quite smelly :P

I find it difficult to believe that thieves would find coloured balls a deterrent...lol.

Nothing new about it; they've been around for a long time.

Which are a waste of time IMO. Some of those conbini chicks could not hurl one of those in the direction of a theif to save their lives. They should supply them with paintball guns, now that would be worth working at a conbini for ¥700 an hour!!!

That is one heck of a good idea.

:giggle:
thats so weird!
but i guess it might work, if anyone actually threw them.
and then they'd have to hit the person or car..

@Dave
Supply the people at conbini with paintball guns?
I'm sure they'd look forward to robberies then!

I believe the point is to make the thieves easy for the police to identify.

I looked into that, and the advice is to aim for the ground near the perp's feet, because the balls shatter on impact and release their contents in a radius as wide as 10 meters. Or fling for the getaway vehicle since a car or motorbike offers a larger target.

I could have told him that!

The Players Handbook for 3.5 D&D states:
You can instead target a specific grid intersection. Treat this as a ranged touch attack against AC 5.

The average person has no Base Attack Bonus, and a Dex of 12, thus, on a single 1d20 roll to hit, the chances of missing are 1 in 4, as opposed to throwing directly at the target (usually at least AC 10) with a miss-chance of 50% at least. So throw it at his feet.

Ohhhhhhh~~~~ I was always aiming it at AC 12!! What I don't understand is, Why is it that when you attack a wizard on a 1b54 roll, I end up with almost no Attack Bonus and no Dex at all????

Oh, well.... I will see YOU next year at the D&D Convention.

BTW, that diatribe you posted on the DC Forum.com about how Supes has lost some definition in his glutes and how it is affecting the quality of the recent issues was totally off the mark.

In an ideal society, Paintball must be thrown away without being used.

Didnt get a single part of this but oh did it make me giggle ^_^; I'm more of a console RPG player than a paper, pen and 20 sided dice RPGer :P

Throwing at the feet makes perfect sense, or at the getaway vehicle. You don't have to be a pen-n'-paper RPer to know that... but it helps. Just think, what are the bigger targets.

Besides, paintball players have been using these things for "grenades" for a while now.

Huh? Noap. That's not me. Must be some other handsome devil with a penchant for Frank Herbert novels.

Nah, man. In an ideal society, Paintball is enjoyed by everyone!

However, as per what you mean by Paintball (i.e. the crime deterrent, not the sport), I agree. Lamentably, the world has never been quite that ideal.
