For travel TO Japan?
My mother is deathly afraid of airplanes. If you would tell me what international railroad services Japan maybe I could finally convince her to come visit me.
I wasn't aware that train fares are posted on the walls of trains; I have to pay more attention.
I think that guy was talking about the maps at Japanese train stations. You figure out which station you want to go to, and then punch it into the ticket machine.
Although why bother with that when you can get the Suica smartcard, and just tag yourself in and out of each station without worrying about buying tickets every day.
