Hi all,

Are probiotics available in Japan? Specifically, lactic acid probiotics. Not the Yakult drink, but the type you would buy from a pharmacy. If so, what are the most common, easy-to-find brands?

Thanks for you time,

Yes, you can easily find the OTC medication.

I don't know what you usually take, but tell the pharmacist what you usually take, esp., composition and dosage.

A brand, The Guard by Kowa contains (per 9 tablets):
30mg of lactic acid
10mg Nattokinase

Don't worry the tablet does not smell bad even containing nattokinase.

Yogurt based on vegetable-oriented lactic acid is popular now here.

Thank you! I will look for "The Guard" in pharmacies.
