The Nihon SF Taikai (日本SF大会; Japan SF Convention)
Held in Osaka, from 23 - 24 August 2008
I would like to go there on my first trip to Japan.
I don't speak Japanese.
How do I buy tickets? (I imagine one needs to buy them in advance)
A Japanese fellow as agreed to meet me at a hotel in Osaka. He doesn't speak English. (we communicate through email + AltaVista)
Any advice would be appreciated.

I know Daicon7,
However, I do not know the details because I have not participated.
According to the information of a site, general participation is free of charge.
The participation cost is 9,800 yen.
The application method is mailing or a bank transfer.

Thank you for your reply.
Just for clarification,

At Daicon 7,
来賓 【らいひん】 = FREE
出品 【しゅっぴん】 = 9800 YEN

Correct?

Perhaps I could trouble you with one more question:
開閉 【かいへい】 = ?
When does it open? I expect the queue to be quite long.

Dear Hiroyuki Nagashima, OK, we know that Daicon 7 is in Osaka and opens 09:00 on Saturday, Aug. 23. Can you tell me where in Osaka this event will be held? Can you direct me toward some cheap hotels walking distance from this event? I just got my vacation weeks firmed up and am making plans in a big hurry.
My first trip to Asia and Japan was Nippon2007 last year. I stayed at the San Ai Yokohama. This was the cheapest hotel on the convention website, was very friendly and comfy. I know very little Japanese, am trying to learn. An English speaker who really pays attention to people and maps can get around well. Thanking you in advance, David Gaeddert in Buffalo, NY.

I liked the Daicon intro video done by Gainax....and the parody version used in the intro for the TV series Densha Otoko tv series....those were the days....when anime was fun.....

Too bad, so sad. David snoozed, David lost. Looking to buy airline tickets at the last week, the prices were up to levels that would not fit in available funds. Hotel reservations had to cancel, my calendar book reminds me of what I missed. Saving my pennies, planning more carefully for next year.
Please tell me about what I missed. Also, please help me plan for next year.
