Next anime..

Hey.

Currently I'm not watching any anime besides my on going list (naruto, bleach, detective conan, one piece, Code Geass (yes, I'm afraid I really watch it). I usually watch these on a single row at Saturdays once per week. And sometimes I enjoy watching another serie during the week. Which I didn't, over the last two months.

To my great distress, I can't seem to find any decent anime.. Since I started watching anime many years ago, I've already watched lots of them and I'm getting afraid that there won't be any great one left. Lately I've only encountered fan service, (meaning free panties shots or needless nudity - which I abominate), stupid (Characters - usually kawaii or innocent chicks - who can't do anything for themselves) or just cliché (Come on.. How many space-robot-pilots-who-fight-their-best-friend-because-of-<random>-while-having-some-pseudo-cute-princess-like-girl-crying-over-it or I'm-only-a-high-school-student-who-happens-to-find-out-I've-super-powers-and-decided/forced-to-fight-random-monsters-or-deamons-and-save-the-world do I have to watch?).

I've watched several types of animes and I'm although I don't consider myself picky, I've to tell most anime SUCK big time. :(

Here is a quick list of animes I've watched and:

Loved:
- Detective Conan.
- One piece.
- Black Lagoon

- Death Note
- Excel Saga (Didn't watch the whole serie though, too much for my brain :D)
- Last Exile
- Ranma 1/2 (LOVE IT!)
- Samurai Champloo (priceless and brilliant)

Enjoyed:
- Neon Genesis Evangelion.
- Cowboy bebop.
- Berserk
- Ergo Proxy
- Ghost in the Shell
- Karin (Funny :D)
- Slayers (funny)
- Trigun
- Vampire Princess Miyu (Enjoyed the fact that every episode is morbid)

It is OK:
- Naruto.
- Bleach.
- Code Geass.
- Basilisk.
- Darker than black
- Gundam SEED
- Hellsing
- InuYasha (Stupid OK, but for some reason got me interested)
- Noir (Enjoyed the love-hate relationship :p)
- Vision of Escaflowne

I can't believe I watched it to the end:
- Claymore
- Elfen Lied
- Ninja Scroll.
- Saber Marionette J (Watched it mainly because my sister loved it and I forced to watch it too)
- Trinity Blood
- Many others..

So bad I couldn't finish:
- D.Gray-man
- Fate Stay night (no comments..)
- Full Metal Panic (Stupidest anime in this whole list)
- Love Hina (So bad..)
- Martian Successor Nadesico (Stupid)
- Nausicaa of the valley of the wind (Boring)
- Many many others..

Watching this list, can you point me to a half decent anime? I'm getting depressed (ok not really :blush:) on the fact I can't seem to find a SINGLE one to watch.

You're exceptionally picky if you said Nausicaa was boring; its considered one of Miyazaki's masterpieces. If that is the case then likely rules out the Legend of the Galactic Heroes which is one of the best series ever produced. The same might be said for Armored Trooper Votoms.

The superpowered Robot thing is overblown, but thats because you're watching Gundam Seed. Really the Gundam franchise peaked with Zeta Gundam, which is darker by a magnitude than the modern stuff. You might also want to take a look at the Macross series, specifically Super Dimensional Fortress, Zero, Plus, and now Frontier, which is currently out on television in Japan. While this is a mecha story set in the future, its more grittier; main characters die, the robots are not super, nor is it unrealistic.

Another "different series" is the Blackjack television series, which was faithfully adapted from the Osamu Tezuka's manga, the same creator of Astro Boy. It revolves around black jack who is a unlicensed doctor who charges massive fees to carry out procedures. Its a really different series, not at all cliché. For a quick funny spin, you might want to watch some of the Lupin III movies. Also you said Ghost in the Shell, did you mean the movies of "Stand Alone Complex" television show, which was pretty amazing in its depiction of the future.

However I don't know if you'll like any of these series... your tastes seem really difficult to pin down.

Er, just to point out that I've no idea why "Nausicaa of the valley of the wind" was on that list considering I never watched it. Probably copy pasted the wrong entry from a list. ;)
