Hi everyone,
Well, I'm off to Japan in about 3 weeks with a friend of mine for just under a month, and we're going all over the country including 3/4 days in Tokyo. I've been looking on the internet for affordable bars to go to and I've found a few that look promising. I've been made aware by my parents (who lived there for 7 years) that a lot of bars will have additional charges (table charges, entrance charges, hostess charges etc) which can take you by suprise if you can't speak the language, so you need to be careful with where you go.

So I was wondering if anyone who has visited Tokyo or who lives there knows of any cool bars or clubs which aren't too expensive and that are worth checking out?
Anywhere in Tokyo is groovy, but I know I'm going to Shibuya while we're there so any places to hang out there would be welcome.

Cheers guys

The Hub tended to be one that international students found good, especially with the point system they had. They are chain that isn't too hard to find. As for Shibuya... hmmm... I heard of one club that wasn't too costy. Never went to one in Shibuya though.

The Pub

Do you mean the Hub (http://www.englishok.jp/shops/hub/)?

Doh... yes, I did, I'll correct that. That's what happens when you don't drink I guess.

Check out the Metropolis weekly mag when you get here. It's the bible for foreigners new to Japan. You can get it online, too, do a Google search.
