hi!

We travelling to Japan this October and need some help.
We are staying two weeks, first few days in Tokyo last few days in Kyoto and that we have already booked.. easy.
But in between we would like to see some real nature, do some hiking maybe visit smal towns. But looking for good information english websites end outside the big cities.
One thing we would like is to go to Tsumago, Magome and Narai.. but finding accomodation there ourselves is hard, not speaking Japanese.
So anyone suggestions where to go or help us out with some Japanese?

Arigato!

For starters, you can go here to get free maps and brochures for just about anything and everywhere in Japan: http://www.jnto.go.jp/eng/

To go to Narai,
You get off at Narai station of JR Chuo Line.
It takes about 3 hours from Tokyo,
It seems to be about 2 hours from Nagoya.

Welcome Inn (JNTO web site) books accommodation at no charge. Let them deal with the language issues.

If you aren't dead set on visiting just those places, how about considering Matsumoto, Takayama, or places in between? The Japan Alps. Could be nice fall colors in October.

You might like to see Hiroshima and Miyagima island. You can do some light hiking there.
