The kanji on the robot's (mechazawa's) shirt, can anyone tell me what it means? And write it in romanji? I'd just like to know what it means as I am cosplaying this character for AnimeUSA this year.

Thanks!

It is KAN. In this case, it means "MAN" as in YOU DA MAN!

I am not sure of the origin of this particular meaning of the character but in Japan, it is used to mean more than just a male but someone who is a REAL MAN. Because of the meaning, many people also pronounce this character OTOKO.

Oh, good to realize in the end it may just be guys being guys after all. I was thinking man is in criminal element -- the outlaw/desperado/gunslinger/card playing uber macho types.

Those Chinese ya know....:p
