Hi we will be going from Shinagawa to Kanazawa for a few days,and then from Kanazawa to Osaka, and back to Narita eventually: we are thinking of going to Kanazawa via Echigo Yuzawa to see the Alpine scenery (and know about the extra costs for JR Pass users)
BUT what is the scenery from Maibara to Kanazawa like, as it looks easier , and a bit quicker, to go from Shinagawa to Maibara and then Kanazawa. (although time on holidays is not overly an issue) We try to avoid repeating scenery if we can...can anyone help??? It also looks like the change at Echigo Yuzawa is fairly tight, but again, websites say the 7 minutes is enough????
