Just a curiosity topic, but whats your favorite high school anime ^_^ ?

For it would definately have to be Azumanga Daioh as my no.1 . But as for runners up, i'm not so sure- i've recently just started getting into Suzuka and School Rumble and they are pretty good so far (although so far i prefer Suzuka the most out the two), and if Fruits Basket can be considered a high school anime then that would also be in a my list of runners up.
But Azumanga is no.1, totally.

How about you guys/girls- whats your favorite high school anime ^_^ ?

"Kimagure Orange Road" seems to be a title the same as Japan.
In the United States, the TV series, OVAs, and the first movie were licensed by AnimEigo, though these licenses expired in August 2006 and they were unable to renew the license due to undisclosed reasons. The second movie, based on the first Shin KOR novel, is licensed by ADV Films.

I introduce some "high school anime".

"Kareshi Kanojo no jijo (His and Her Circumstances)"

The series was adapted as a 26-episode anime television series by Gainax.

Plot
The main character is Yukino Miyazawa, a Japanese high school freshman who is the envy of classmates for her good grades and immaculate appearance. However, this is a charade she maintains to win praise—in private, she is spoiled, stubborn, and a slob, and studies relentlessly instead of spending time with her sisters. On entering high school, she is knocked from her position at the top of the class by Soichiro Arima, a handsome young man whose very existence Yukino considers a threat to the praise on which she thrives, and she vows to destroy him. For his part, Soichiro is also living a facade, as he strives to be perfect in order to avoid turning "bad" like the parents who abandoned him. After some misunderstandings, they see through each other's mask and fall in love. The series follows their relationship through high school and beyond as they learn how to trust each other, along the way also exploring the relationships of several of their friends.
The anime adaptation ends just before the school's annual cultural festival, in volume 7 of the manga. The manga goes on to cover the festival (including a play written by Yukino's friend Aya and performed by Yukino and friends), the revelation of the Arima family's secrets, and the backstories of many other characters. The final chapter ends Yukino and Soichiro in their 30s, the same age as Yukino's parents at the start.

School life of a boy senior high school.
Here Is Greenwood

sXSob5euAzQ

Plot
Both the manga and OVAs begin with Kazuya Hasukawa's belated arrival at Ryokuto Academy (a little over a month into the start of the term thanks to being injured in a car accident, a stress-induced ulcer, and a freak series of mishaps that delayed touring the academy and completing the admissions process) and his assignment to the former insane asylum and current dormitory called "Ryokurin-ryou"—commonly called by its more easily pronounceable English name, Greenwood, and known for its bizarre types. These include two heads of dormitory and school, Shinobu and Mitsuru (they are roommates. There is a large Shinobu and Mitsuru yaoi fanbase, but the manga and OVA never truly unambiguously specify their sexual preferences), the student who shares his room with his motorcycle, the Christian fanatics, etc. Although he lived within commuting distance of the school, he has signed up to live in one of the dorms to get away from home, where his brother Kazuhiro (who raised him when the two's parents perished) has recently married Kazuya's first love, Sumire, and taken a job as Ryokuto's school nurse.

By the time Kazuya arrives, there is only one room with a space left for him—with Shun Kisaragi, a pretty girl who, for mysterious and unexplained reasons, must attend the all-boys school. Student Body President Shinobu Tezuka and Head Resident Mitsuru Ikeda (the two elder students who are assigned to mentor Kazuya, and who live together in Greenwood as well) tell Kazuya that they felt he was the only person they could trust to share a room with Shun. However, three days later, 'Suka-chan' (as he is quickly nicknamed by Shun) happens to walk in on Shun in the men's bathroom ... using the urinal. After a brief chase through the dormitory, Shun admits that 'she' is really a 'he' who looks precisely like a female, and that the rest of the dormitory was not only in on the joke, but were actually placing bets on how long it would take Kazuya to find out.

Subsequent to that profitable (for the bookies Shinobu and Mitsuru, at least) episode, Kazuya teams up with Shun and Mitsuru to defeat Shinobu's older sister, Nagisa, who has nursed a grudge against Shinobu since childhood, and seeks to humiliate him at least once.

Another episode records an inter-dorm competition for a substantial prize purse, in which Greenwood bands together and develops a fantasy film called, "Here is Devil Wood". (The OVA's ending theme provides the popular phrase "We are the No-Brand Heroes", frequently adopted by clubs, web sites, and users.) The movie is a hit, and wins the popularity contest.

In the 4th episode, Mitsuru is haunted by the new ghost (that is, not one of the normal Greenwood ghosts) of a cute girl who wanted to go out with a guy. The complications that ensue nearly wreck Greenwood, before Mitsuru is tricked by the ghost into kissing her. Just when she seems to have found peace and pass on to the next world, she returns with a number of other ghost girls to haunt the four main characters.

The final two episodes deal with the budding and halting romance between Kazuya and a girl named Miya Igarashi. Through several tribulations, including defeating a vicious girl's gang, they finally come together, as the series ends in a montage of flashbacks set to the series' music.

Boys Be...
Description
The anime focuses upon the ups and downs, joys and sorrows of first love and teenage romance. Six students struggle in their quest to find the perfect partner. Their only enemies are their adolescent limitations.

Each episode begins and ends with a philosophical quote which loosely sums up the episode's content. Boys Be..., while centered on Kyoichi and Chiharu, actually revolves about seven or eight main characters and their love lives.

Evaluation in Japan seems to be low.

I liked Boy's Be, especially the beautiful rendering of nature in the anime. =) The ending though was a bit weird.

A kawaii choice would be "Miracle Girls". Suzuka was a series that tackled high school love with all of its uneasiness and innocence.:-)

Miracle Girls
The original is comics for young girls of 90's.
It was "Sailor moon" and ANIME of the same time period.
Plot summary
Identical twins Toni and Mika share a secret: they are Espers. They can communicate with each other telepathically, and can even teleport when they hold hands. They try to keep this a secret, but using their abilities too much begins to gather attention from various people. They are also trying to deal with their relationships with boys Chris and Jackson, who gradually learn more about the girls as their relationships grow.

I'd recomend "Lovely Complex".
The ANIME is really good, funny and touching (whereas the real movie is a rubbish)
"Suzuka" is just a soup opera. I didn't really like it.
"Azumanga" is a very funny anime focused on women's life.
"Boys Be" is also funny and beautiful. It has a awesome and cute climax with the 2000 year's coming and the end of the "1812 Overture" of Tchaikovsky.
The best of the best is "GTO". The funniest, most exciting and interesting high school ANIME I've never seen. The real "DORAMA" is also the best Japanese "DORAMA" I've never seen.
I don't know if "Fruits Basket" is a high school ANIME. It's funny, but if you really want to have fun, watch "Full Metal Panic Fumoffu". It's a kind of high school ANIME with action, romance and lots of fun.

"Urusei Yatsura" was the most interesting in old ANIME.
Urusei Yatsura
Plot
The series is very light-hearted in nature and often quite bizarre. It concerns the adventures of a group of teenagers who live inTomobiki, an area of theNerima ward ofTokyo on a slightly fantastical and often ridiculously surreal version of Earth. The story centers around an extremely lecherous and very unlucky high-school boy,Ataru Moroboshi, and the bikini clad alien princess Lum.
Lum falls in love with Ataru after he accidentally proposes to her, while Ataru is always chasing after every girl he sees (despite them not being interested inhim) leading to Lum physically punishing him with electric shocks. Lum never calls Ataru by name, even to other people she calls him "darling". This is the main reason for the many occurrences of the word throughout the titles and songs of the series. The series is heavily episodic, with only occasional plots spanning more than one chapter / episode. Each of these usually concerns Ataru's ill-luck, his lechery (and Lum's jealousy thereof) or the wide variety of weird humans and aliens who love, hate, or simply meddle with Lum and Ataru.

Ouran High School Host Club

Plot
Haruhi Fujioka is a scholarship student at Ouran High School, a fictional school located in Bunkyō, Tokyo. Because of the superlative cost of the school uniform, Haruhi resorts to wearing long slacks, polo shirts and vests. Combined with her large glasses and tousled short hair, Haruhi's look causes her to be confused for a boy.

Looking for a quiet place to study, Haruhi stumbles upon the Third Music Room, the working place of the Ouran Host Club, a group of six extremely attractive male students (Takashi Morinozuka, called "Mori"; Mitsukuni Haninozuka, called "Honey"; twins Kaoru and Hikaru Hitachiin; Tamaki Suou, and Kyoya Ootori) who spend their time charming and entertaining the school's girls for profit. During their first meeting, Haruhi accidentally knocks over and breaks a vase valued at \8,000,000, estimated to be US$80,000.

In order to pay off the large debt, Haruhi is employed as the club's "dog" and is constantly ordered to do menial tasks like serving food or cleaning up. The club president, Tamaki Suou, without knowing she is really a girl, promotes Haruhi to "host" as soon as he discovers her potential. Even after the truth comes out in the Club, Haruhi continues the charade and is allowed to pay off the rest of her debt working as a host; in order to accomplish this, Haruhi conceals her true identity/gender from the customers and the school.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Plot and characters
See also: List of Haruhi Suzumiya characters
Yuki Nagato, Haruhi Suzumiya, and Mikuru Asahina in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, performing the "Hare Hare Yukai" dance. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya follows the high school life of Haruhi Suzumiya, a young and very active high school girl, and those who are caught up in her antics. While Haruhi is the central character to the plot, the story is told from the point of view of Kyon, one of Haruhi's classmates.
Kyon is an ordinary freshman high school student who has recently given up his fantasies of espers, time travelers, and aliens as he left middle school.[9] When he chooses to speak to Haruhi, he unwittingly sets off a chain of events which drag him into surreal situations; he is drawn further into a world eerily like the fantasies he had just managed to outgrow, with Haruhi at its center.
Searching for a group that interests her, Haruhi joins and quits every club in the school, finding only dissatisfaction.[10] Kyon makes a snide remark about her actions and accidentally provides Haruhi the inspiration to create a club of her own. To help start the club, Haruhi forcefully drafts Kyon, who only stays in the club to protect other helpless victims of Haruhi's "voluntary arrests". As the story progresses, Kyon finds that each of these supposedly "helpless victims" has a specific reason to be there.[11]
The first of these new members is Yuki Nagato, a silent bibliophile who usually wants to simply be left alone to read. Without Haruhi knowing, Yuki is in fact a "humanoid interface," or an artificial human, created by the extraterrestrial Integrated Data Entity.[11] The next member is the shy and timid Mikuru Asahina, who is one year above Haruhi; she is actually a time traveler.[11] The final member of the SOS Brigade is Itsuki Koizumi, who is almost always smiling and more than willing to give in to Haruhi's strange demands. He turns out to be one of many espers in an organization known as the Agency.[11]
Except for Kyon, the members of the club are secret agents of various organizations who are sent to observe Haruhi. They gradually explain that Haruhi has superhuman control over every aspect of the universe—an ability which she is unaware of. Whenever Haruhi becomes bored or otherwise dissatisfied with reality, she subconsciously creates a new universe—one more to her liking—and attempts to switch over, thus leading to the destruction of the current universe. In order to prevent this, the members of Haruhi's club spend their time attempting to keep their god-like leader entertained, hold her powers in check, and maintain the illusion of a normal life.
The series never clarifies whether the club members gathered around Haruhi by their own free will, her subconscious, or were simply created out of thin air for Haruhi's amusement. The question of their origin is a motif seen throughout the series.

I liked vey much this serial.
The philosophy about who we are among millions and millions and millions of people was very interesting. The script is sometimes cofusing. But that's tipical of any Japanese art.
After watching a Japanese movie, anime, or reading a Japanese book, you always get a lot of question to ask yourself or a friend. That's a normal thing in any Japanese art.
Leting the spectators think about it and to give one's opinion.
