hey

as said on topic i need some help on what scholarships exist for a Portuguese student to go and study in japan?

So far i only found Monbusho scholarship and since it is not mentioned in the embassy web page I'm afraid it is not available for Portuguese students. Right now i have taken one year of classes on a Portuguese university but i decided to change degrees i was on Biomedical Sciences and want to enter at Business Administration. It was a dream of mine to study abroad and i am actually quiet found of Japanese culture and language.
I know this year as already passed the time for the tests any way but would it be worth it to prepare myself for a year and try next year?
I'm 19 years old, male, no records, average grades (do to lack of study i made trough all high school having to study only to final exams) and completely lost in life right now :bluush:

Thanks in advance

Bruno Gonçalves

I haven't checked the details myself, but you can check what scholarships are available at JASSO (Japan Students Services Organization) website:

You can look at Jasso (Japan Student Services Organization). They list a number of different scholarships. http://www.jasso.go.jp/study_j/scholarships_e.html
A lot of scholarships in Japan are through university recommendation. Thus you need to be already studying at the school before they will give you a scholarship, Also they tend to limit you to one scholarship.

The website also has information about studying in Japan and different universities.

Are you wanting to study for a degree in Japan? If so, is your Japanese at a proficient level? I don't know of any undergraduate programs in English (I have not looked), and really doubt there are any in Portuguese.

As I was saying in another thread there is also the vulcanus program for EU students that allows you to spend one year in Japan in an internship program. The grant is quite good and the accomodation is also included.

MY Japanese is not at a proficient level :( but it is my wish to learn the language I've been doing so for a year but I'm still not even close to fluent, not speaking on the writing part as I've halted it for some time (i mean kanji and etc) that's why the Monbusho scholarship seemed like a very good way for me (first year is learning Japanese)

Still Thanks to every one who answered this topic
