Hi, I recently lost my grandson. I have a beautiful stand that I would like to use to set his urn on. I don't know where it is from or what it says. This is my first post and I am hoping that you can tell me what these symbols are. If someone can translate them, i will take pictures of them all so I can know what they mean. I don't want to set my grandsons ashes on this stand, unless it is saying something wonderful - thanks SO much - here are pictures of the stand, and just three of the symbols, they are all different, all the way around - thanks - Virginia

I'm sorry about your loss.
As for the stand, what I can assure you is that the "symbols" are not Japanese.
To me the first two out of the three "symbols" look something an artist made up to make them look like Chinese characters rather than actual (existing) letters, but I'm not sure...
The 3rd might be a simplified Chinese character on its side but again I'm not sure about it either.
Sorry I cannot be of much help, and I hope you can find out what they are actually are.

maybe one of our Chinese members will see it and answer if they are in fact Chinese characters.

thanks so much, I really appreciate your help. Someone on my lampwork bead site that I belong to, also said she didn't think any of the characters were correct. That they were maybe meant to just look exotic. Would greatly appreciate any more help you can give me. Since it will be holding my Grandsons urn, it is incredibly important to me - I have to leave for work, but I will post his picture later, if that is acceptable. He was just 15. Thank you all - Virginia

that can solve this mystery? Are the characters on the stand made up, written incorrectly, a very old out of use Kanji, or actually mean something in Chinese. Can't sleep till the mystery is solved, LOL.

thank you. I really appreciate all the knowledge you have all shared. It deffinitely is looking like I am not going to be able to find out what it says. BUT, it also appears that I am not going to find out that it doesn't say something bad. - I want to share the pics of his cerimony - Virginia

My condolences. With my pretty basic knowledge of chinese language, those arent chinese characters. Not sure if those are ancient words tho'.
