Indian Police say 14 police officers, 81 Indian nationals and six foreigners have been killed. A Japanese businessman and an Italian national were confirmed to be among the dead. :(

But the latest attacks are different in terms of both method and scale, with teams of well-armed men involved in synchronised attacks - the gunmen were also clearly prepared to die in their attacks.

Another major difference is the targeting of restaurants and hotels used by westerners and the apparent singling out of those with British and American passports. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7752173.stm

Does this news indicate ..... Japanese better Keep Out Of Anything Anglo-American, when we travel in India and the neighboring countries as they are targeted ???

US, Britain lead condemnation of Mumbai attacks

WASHINGTON, Nov 26, 2008 (AFP) – The United States and Britain led global condemnation of the attacks in India's financial capital Mumbai on Wednesday, where blasts and shootings targeted at foreigners left over 100 people dead.

The United States said the attacks, which also wounded hundreds, were "horrific", while US President-elect Barack Obama pledged to work with India to "root out and destroy terrorist networks".

UN chief Ban Ki-moon said such violence was "totally unacceptable", while Britain condemned the attacks on its former colony as "outrageous" and the European Union expressed its "horror and indignation".

Officials said around 100 people died in coordinated attacks at two of Mumbai's top hotels and the main Chhatrapati Shivaji railway station late Wednesday.
A group calling itself the "Deccan Mujahedeen" claimed responsibility.

One British guest of the Taj Mahal hotel told local Indian television that armed men had herded people, including himself, to the hotel's upper floors.

"They said they wanted anyone with British and American passports," he said.

I hope it is filled with those who kill innocent men, women, and children to make some crazy political statement. May they suffer eternal damnation for the evil they commit.

Terrorists targets the places with easy targets which can generate the casualities, damages, and publicity. Anyone from the major industrialized nations could be a target by those groups. I tend to hang out with American, Western, or English-speaking people (even in Japan). I think I will keep it that way regardless of sometimes overblown risks.

Indian airstrikes if Pakistan does not act fast: McCain

LAHORE: US Senator John McCain (R-AZ) has said that there is enough evidence of the involvement of former Inter-Services Intelligence officers in the planning and execution of the Mumbai attack and if Pakistan does not act, and act fast, to arrest the involved people, India will be left with no option but to conduct aerial operations against select targets in Pakistan.

gThe democratic government of India is under pressure and it will be a matter of days after they have given the evidence to Pakistan to use the option of force if Islamabad fails to act against the terrorists,h he said.

I don't know why McCain tells such to Pakistan.
