Hi,

I have a friend who is interested in applying to Tokyo Medical and Dental Clinic's Graduate school of Dentistry and go for a Master's or even possibly PhD degree. He is not looking for MEXT scholarship as he can afford to pay for the education. If one is not applying for the MEXT scholarship, does one still have to give all the entrance exams (English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology) ? Asides from passing JLPT1 and partnering up with a professor, what other exams does the candidate have to give to get into TMDC?

I suppose the toughest thing will be finding a professor but if that is done, is there anything else to it?

Thanks

He'd have to take whatever entrance exams regular students are subjected to.
MEXT students at the undergrad and graduate levels also have to pass these exams to get into their schools, ultimately.
The only thing MEXT students are exempted from that's normally required for foreign students to directly enroll into a university is the JLPT exam.

If his native language is English or he graduated from a school that was conducted in English, they might waive the English exam requirement though.
