Hi Japanese people

I do need your help for my diploma thesis:
10 things which jump into your mind when you are thinking of Switzerland (without looking in the internet and don't think too long).

Can you help me? I would be very pleased. Without your help I realy don't know how to go any further.

Thank you very very much.

Do you specifically want reactions from Japanese, or can any non-Swiss play too?

sorry, people from Japan only :worried:.

some other answers would be interessting for myself in private, but not for my diploma project. so if you like to post something it still would be nice :yeahh:

Well, I wouldn't want to skew your data. I'm curious to see what comes up.

Oddly enough, I see this as kind of a reversal of sorts. Usually it is Japan asking what other countries think what it special about itself.

Thank you and have a nice day

I'd like to write you what I think of Japan, if you'd like to write what comes in your mind when you think about Switzerland ;)

I'm also not Japanese, but I'll second what others have said.

Delicious chocolate, Swiss cheese, watches, pocket knives, secret bank accounts, neutrality, the Alps, the WTO and Swiss Miss (although I'm sure that's really an American company).

I think it's sold as imported food at specialty stores. So, people probably think it's from Switzerland...

This reminds me... as a child, I always thought Nestle was an American company, because most imported foods came from the US then. I discovered it was a Swiss company only after I grew up!!

not sure where Swiss Miss originates, but it's readily available here.

As others have said, it's a very popular brand of cocoa, and apparently it is a US company. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss_Miss)

I recall a Top Gear show featured a good driving road in Switzerland. If my memory serves me correctly, that road leads to Davos. If I have a chance to drive in Switzerland, I want to try that route in a sports car.:)

Here are what I conjure up when I hear Switzerland:

Money
Banking (secrecy)
Military conscription
Alps
High end watches and fine instruments
Chocolate (as others have already mentioned)
Non-EU country (to maintain its independence and neutrality)
Polyglot citizens
Guns

4) Winning the America's Cup Yacht race
5) Heidi
6) Swiss banks
7) Neutrality
8) Alps
9) The white cross flag
10) St. Bernard dogs
