About 12 - 14 years ago my dad had a VHS of a samurai/ninja movie.
In the beginning a mother and her small son are walking down a road, when a group of guys with swords shows up. They're about to do bad things, but the moment is saved by a white-bearded old man, who delivers just one touch to each of the gang-members and they are paralyzed. The young son is so amazed that once the fight is over asks to be trained by the old man. The "wizard" is surprised at the kids persistence and accepts him, with the first lesson being jumping over a very tiny, just planted tree.
The jumping goes well and the kid is happy. But the old man puts a few extra weights on the kids feet and jumping over a small bush isn't that easy anymore. The scene cuts to the young kid grown up, in around, maybe, mid 20s, when he jumps over an entire tree with the weights still attached to his feet. The master then takes the extra weights of and the kid can practically fly.
The rest is a blur. But in the end there's a huge fight (swords, ninja stars, lots of jumping around), where the grown-up warrior leads a small army to fight the ninjas and their boss. The boss dies in the end of the fight and the main hero is very badly injured. Finally, he leaves on a boat with, I think, his mom and his girl.
Does anyone know what would be the name of this movie?
