Hi
this prize has lost its credibility since it was awarded to people who do not deserve it.
for example President Obama,he did not do anything for the world to deserve it yet..
i know Obama is a good person and smart but still it's too early for him to be awarded !!
Nobel Prize is A political toy now.

i am not racial,i just wonder why/for what they awarded him ?

what do you think ?

What is the point of the Nobel Peace Prize in the first place? Just get rid of it.

Politicians who can negotiate peace are doing their job and that doesn't mean they deserve some sort of award. Those who can't negotiate peace deserve a bollocking. That's how it should work.

It's important in science. There's nothing more rewarding to me than being awarded that prize for helping to advance humanity, what an honor it would be to win it one day.

Alas, intelligence lacking is not a resume doter...

I don't think one year makes that much difference. It was an obvious attempt to use the Nobel as a spur to peace. The award has been getting creative for a long spell now....Environment; Politics; Health Policy; Human Rights; Women's Rights, etc. If it doesn't work this time a Chinese AIDS activist or Colombian hostage negotiator or Congolese gynecologist will skip to the front of the line next time.

And I'm as anti-Obama as you are pro....but if there is peace in Afghanistan, he should without question get another one. :p

As Putrefaction pointed out it is hardly a political toy in science. Those who earn the award in the fields of science genuinely deserve those awards. Just look at this year's recipients. Like Elizabeth said, one year doesn't make much difference. Do I think Obama deserved it? No, and neither does he. But that does not suddenly tarnish previous or future recipients. It's not like he is anti-peace or belligerent. I don't really know why he was awarded it but the popular theory is that it is because he is not Bush or McCain and to serve as a precursor to his future endeavors.

A dead hippo would have been better than Bush.

A dead hippo would have been better than Bush.
Yeah, that wasn't the choice, though, fortunately. :P

I simply don't vote a backlash and am certainly not racist, sexist or ageist enough to take into consideration a candidate's demographic profile.

If I was the president of the US, I'd tell them to shove their Nobel Peace Prize and invent, for me, a Nobel War Prize so I can earn it retrospectively. A peaceful US? That has to be a ******* joke. How can any US president be given a peace prize without getting out of the two conflicts? And how can the country get the hell out of said two conflicts without causing even more conflict? Whatever to be honest. The Nobel Peace Prize was a **** idea.

if they make a poll on the internet like ( Does Person deserve the Nobel Prize ? ) this will be fair because it should be the people who choose who deserve it not companies...agree ?

even if Bush is a bad President for what he did to another people but he was good for the American people at least one million times better than our leaders, they are thifes and Dictators...

Well, it hasn't been publicly announced but while not approving a big drawdown In Afghanistan like Iraq (Obama couldn't get away with that politically), there isn't going to be a bolstering of troops either. Doing nothing for the present conflict but making a way forward impossibly hard and dangerous.

What I'm implying is that Bush needs to be bollocked, not Obama rewarded.

Interesting how anyone who is less than 10000% gung-ho for President Obama feels compelled to pre-emptively stress that they are not racist,

What a sad state of affairs.

Well the goal he set for himself was to earn the honor, take it as a challange rather than a reward. No one can express an informed opinion how that's going to play out at this juncture.

I have great faith that we'll someday remember again the importance of a president that can fill the WH as an unquestionable leader with stature and “perfect pitch” when it comes to political issues. :relief:

This president will be remembered for

a) Breaking the race barrier
b) Being ambitious to the point of dreaming
c) Dividing the country politically
