I am hoping someone could help me translate the following 6 english words into japanese symbols or what I believe is called kanji. Below are the 6 words i wish to translate. Help is greatly appreciated:

1. Love
2. Life
3. Laughter
4. Pain
5. Hate
6. Suffering

So much more than with English, it pretty depends on the context and what role it is playing in the sentence, but I hope what nektor and I have given can at least get you started. Of course there are yet more non-kanji possibilities as well. ;).

It's interesting.
Is there big difference between Pain and Suffering in Englsih?
I thought these words have same meaning....
I think 苦and痛 in Japanese are almost the same meaning.

1. Love-愛
2. Life-命、生活、一生、人生
3. Laughter-笑
4. Pain-痛
5. Hate−憎悪
6. Suffering-苦

hmmm... sometimes...
there's "sharp" pain, but there's no such thing as "sharp" suffering [edit: as far as i know]
likewise (そえば？とてえば？え、忘れました。ごめんなさい。) one hears "long" suffering (as in "during her battle with cancer, she suffered long periods of nausea")
but not "he felt a long pain"
i am not explaining this properly, but maybe somebody can pick up the slack...

I think 痛い in Japanese is also primarily physical pain as compared with 苦しみ、つらい、苦痛、悩む。 And long suffering is more to the sufferance/forbearance of the individual than the period of difficulty or type of suffering itself. I tend to think of pain as more a direct consequence of injury, illness, emotional adversity, etc and suffering a result of those afflictions and torments reaching almost unbearable heights of extreme unpleasantness. :auch:
