I got this transalation from a website (I dont remember which on). I want to know if it is correct, I am trying to write i love you my girlfriend.

私は愛する

I check the correctness at Tokyo International University website: http://language.tiu.ac.jp/tools_e.html and it seems to be correct, however one part is not translated:

Can someone help me out? Thanks! Also, I want to self teach myself Japanese, can someone recommend a good way to do so? I want to atleast be able to communicate a little bit.

I know I'm asking lot, but can someone how to write the phrase "i love you" correctly in Japanese? I would greatly appreciate it. I am looking at the characters, 私は愛する, but I don't think I will be able to write it, its kind of hard to see exactly. I want to surprise her!

Well, the "wa" is just a particle that comes after 私
indicating the topic as "I" so the whole phrase is fine for saying "I love." If you want to say, I love you -->> あなたを愛しています。 Anata (or your girlfiend's name) wo aishite imasu.

So this --> あなたを愛しています。means "I Love You"? And this --> 私は愛する means just "I Love"? Looks like I wrote is incorrectly then on the picture I gave her. Acutally, I had one heck of a time trying to just write 私は愛する, I don't know how I will be able to write あなたを愛しています。 I'm Korean, and I can write Korean characters pretty well, but Japanese is so much more complex and harder to write!
