Alright, I have found some more interesting material about U.S. bases in Japan.
First of all, see the petition of the Okinawan governor (http://www2.pref.okinawa.jp/oki/okinawa.nsf/98ec0e16075d27aa492567340044e504/0f50f7d9309e25c549256946002dad79?OpenDocument) in regard to a possible revision of the Japan-U.S. Status of Force Agreement.
