True true, just about everyone is a MM fan...
And Winter... I don't care what you have to say. No offense or anything. But I made this thread for people who DO like Malice Mizer, k?

I was under the impression that this was a public message board, and these threads were here for the freedom of expressing an opinion.
And no offense taken, I could care less if you care about me or my opinions, but I do expect the same respect of displaying an 'unpopular' opinion as oppose to just agreeing with what the feeling of the thread implies, thank you.

I like Malice Mizer very much so...they were what got me into J-rock. I like Illuminati and Bel-Air.... opinions should be respected even if you don't agree with them....that's why it's an opinion.
Me a Mizer fan too ^^
I prefer the works with Klaha more as the music seems stronger and more to my style.

I've never heard of them. Maybe I'll like, I should check them out.

I'm sorry to upset you, but you cant very well stop me from voicing my opinion at a public message board.
And I encourage disagreement; it breeds intellectual stimulation via independant thinking.
I'm afraid that if you dont like someone going against the grain, then life might be a tad rough for you. Or not; regardless, if you dont like my disagreeing opinions, I apologize, but I'm not going to censor myself just because you dont like it.

As an admin, i'm going to have to jump in here.
I have to stand with Winter here. This is an open forum and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Opening a thread about a band and saying that only people who like that band can post in that thread is absurd. Even more, it would be very boring if everyone had the same opinion.
In true forum style, you should explore why someone likes a certain band, but also why someone doesn't. Trust me, you might actually learn something. You might see something that you haven't seen before.

maizer has a odd classical..odd..ODD..gothy sound ..its like they went from abit more bouncey (gackt-era) to ..blood this and blood that..(khala) and turned darker
they may not be considerd really a type of rock here in america ..theyd be more..gothy..weirdness...but they are j-rock

me like malice mizer^^ first jrock band i heard, and it's.. amazing. love them all, hey, their music, sounds, melody, style, visual skills, incredible talent, costumes, makeup, everything. i love those men, even if there's not much left of it.. it doesn't matter if gackt is pop nowadays, or that mana is not making better girl than girls do anymore. közi and yuki are somewhere, klaha is solo and kami is gone. so? there's music. and what i think, good it really is. <3 malice mizer, yeah.

hello!!!
I was on the Moi dix mois thread aswell...but since I don't have time to login here unless I know I have a answer, I often miss all kind of news
To winter...if you're a silver ash fan I suppose that you might be more into the indie visual kind of sound? I do know many of those doesn't love Mizer...
I've been a Mizer fan for quite a while myself so I can not agree on that they're overrated...to me they're very special...
as a live show girl indeed, I am pretty sure I enjoy Moi dix Mois, Kagerou or The Piass, Vidoll and so on before silver ash, but that's mainly because I can't get into the chinese songs. and I mean it...I've talked to Ling back in time about him being the Diru fan number one, and I remember he liked Mana aswell, but it won't change my oppinion about their music being not so very special...in japan...they woulnd't really have much of a chance...noone so far knows about them...but ofcourse I wish them luck
as for Malice Mizer....yeah I adore them, but the more I go to see dix...the more obsessed I am^^
also a fan of Közi's band Eve of destiny....
those two (mana and közi) are my angels forever, even if I do fall in love with hundreds of those small bands^^
Well, I'm also a Silver Ash fan as well as Malice Mizer, Moi dix Mois, Eve of Destiny, and Klaha (only heard one of his solo songs, but his voice is great). ;)
Now he's a funny little story. My father decided he'd come along to see Eve of Destiny as he was curious about these Japanese bands I like. EoD don't sound too Japanese (nor do mizer for that matter), but he liked it, so asked me to play him some MM. Now my father is a fan of Malice Mizer too O.o Only the works with Klaha, but all the same. Although, he doesn't know any Japanese and I haven't told him translation yet... :D

Careful...with remarks like that regarding Malice Mizer, you are likely to get the verbal boot from someone.

Its hard to be fresh in the industry I reckon.

i listen to whatever sounds good to me at the moment like i said i had been listening to mizer for..quite a while before i actually saw a picture of them they are one of the main reasons i listen to j-rock ppls taste vary its only human one doesnt like what another does..'to each is his own' so to speak ..now..when it comes to american or english bands..im hella picky about it..but its rare for me to hear a j-rock band i dont like ..they are pretty good IMO unlike bands that you find here i.e crappy ass linkin park and such
Odd, I like Linkin Park.
Linkin Park aside, I find it strange when someone says that. Why? Is it because they're Japanese? Or because you can't actually understand all that they sing so the lyrics don't seem so bad? If it's Visual Kei, which seems to mostly be the case here, is it because of their looks more so then their music? X-Japan-FanGrl, you're not the only one I'm addressing here. I dun mean to have a go at anyone, I'm just curious.
I dun particulary like 'English' pop, nor do I particulary like Japanese pop.
The other thing is, if one can get into the Japanese independent scene, try looking at the American, Australian, British, Kiwi, Canadian, etc, independent scene. You may be pleasently surprised.
I actually don't think they would all be better either. If you think about it, with 'English' music there are more countries and more people, where as with the Japanese industry, it's more restricted so the standard can be lowered a little. Not saying there aren't some excellent bands/artists in Japan! Not in the least.
Oh wells, there ends my little rant for today.

Loki, you really speak to me.
I think a lot of people are biased to jrock, BECAUSE they are japanese. Same reason why people are biased to western music.
And I dont have any more thoughts to add, as you, Loki, stated them pretty well.
And speaking of Linkin Park, while I hate their music, they are incredibly fun to see live.

Evening All. New to this forum...so just making myself known. Malice Mizer...are in my opinion...pure quality, it depends on my mood as to what era I prefer, but normally the darker Klaha stuff is more to my liking.
On that note...I have yet to get Bara No Seidou as it costs SO much to get cd's imported all the way to naff little Northern Ireland over here.
The last song on the album 'Saikai no chi to bara' which I take to mean 'Goodbye Blood and Rose' even though...with my limited ability to translate...the word meaning 'goodbye' in fact means something like 'reunion'...and I am confused by that.
Secondly...about this song...I can find no lyrics for it anywhere, romanised or english and I was wondering if those of you have heard this song, is it an instrumental? Because I did not believe it was as it has been released as a single.
But I do not know. Can anyone help me out here?
I would be very grateful...
X-Japan-FanGrl: Fair enough ^^ It is different and that I suppose is what's nice. I dun like forcing my opinions on anyone and happy to stand corrected. So yay.
Metatron_Mana: Hullo! Yay! You generally prefer the darker works too!
About 'Saikai no chi to bara', there are no lyrics. It's an instrumental song released in memory of Kami. The aim was to only involve Mana, Kozi, and Yuki as the remaining members, so pre-Klaha, and of course, post-Gackt. Therefore, there's no vocalist.
My friend bought Bara no Seidou while in Japan. It's quite a good CD, but yes, shipping costs are expensive >.<

There are loose phrases whispered in the song, which luckily are in the booklet (because it's very hard to hear what is said). Here they are:
sang
rose
revoir
sans faute
la vue se dégage
noeuds solides de l'amour
porter sa croix
un moment
liens de sang
fatalité
éternellement
tomber sur
en espérant se revoir

Malice Mizer is perfection! I used to love a band called Luna Sea until I stumbled across these guys though. I've heard that the name of Malice Mizer is really supposed to be Malicious Misery, is there any truth to this rumor? I've always wondered but never had a chance to ask! ^.^
I think my favorite group member is Kami, he has these beautiful smiling eyes! ;)
My favorite song is Le Ciel, the lyrics to they're songs are absolutely amazing, stunning! Musicians in America aren't that creative or sincere! Such a pitty!

Did anyone know that Gackt studied and is quite fluent in French, (of course you all knew!!) this being why most of the songs have something French about them...i'm not quite sure what the deal is with him leaving and the whole thing continuing with the language thing...yup. I wonder what Klaha knows o.O (he's so purty)
The attached file (gackt) kinda' reminds me of The Crow...
According to his bip, Klaha knows some English aside from Japanese.
And yes, Malice Mizer does mean that.

I also heard that Gackt, though he speaks French quite fluently doesn't speak a word of English. For some reason I find that really interesting. French is much more fun to speak than English anyways

Me being the n00bie here I usually get the facts before jumping into a liking or disliking of something or someone type of convorsation...and I wanted to say that Malice Mizer is a fav of mine....this is the history od MM I thought I'd throw it into this post because I noticed that someone spoke of MM's music and only spoke of Gackt's and Klaha's vocal days in MM....when infact Gackt was not their first vocalist....and you must remember the vocalist (although covered with the most credit alot of the time) is not the only person in a band...unlike pop stars like Britney who have music composed for their songs....so meh here is a brief history of Malice Mizer....
Malice Mizer was formed in 1992 by Mana and Kozi after the breakup of a band they were in. "Malice Mizer" stands for Malicious Misery (thus Mizer should be pronounced Mee-ser, not Mai-ser), which Mana defines as human nature. The third member of Mizer, Yu~ki, was recruited after Mana saw the final performance of his former band. Mana asked Yu~ki to join Malice Mizer, and he agreed. The band's former drummer, Gaz, left the band after barely 6 months, and Kami was recruited as their new permanent drummer. Tetsu, the band's first vocalist, left the band in 1993 over arguments about the band's direction. It took nearly a year for the band to find their next vocalist, Gackt. He didn't actually audition, but went to karaoke with Mana and Kami. In 1997, Malice Mizer moved from their indies record label(Midi:Nette) to a major label(Nippon Columbia). Gackt left the band in 1999 to persue a solo career. Soon after Gackt's departure, the drummer Kami unexpectedly died of a subanachroid hemmorage. The band never hired a replacement drummer, instead having temporary ones. In 2000, Klaha became the vocalist. In 2001, the band unfortunatly dissolved. Klaha, Kozi, and Mana have all persued other musical careers. The best of luck to them.
I hope you enjoyed this and Kami *~ Rest In Peace ~*

I noticed that most J-rock bands are made up of beautiful boys who dress as even more beautiful women, and I used to wonder why.
I recently stumbled across a sort of explanation for this.
In ancient Japan there was a man who fell in love with a beautiful Geisha. When he confessed his feeling to this stunning woman he was shocked to find that she was really a man, but he found that he was still in love with him in the end, thus the lived happily ever after (I skipped a lot) Anyways, the original Geisha WERE in fact men, but women, obviously proved to be much more popular and so today the word geisha reminds us of beautiful, intelligent, talented and refined young women who served the rich patrons of many a tea house. I really wonder what male geisha were like ^.^ (bear in mind they didn't dress as women in the beginning) There's a lot of history and tradition connected to these bands, which is absolutely spiffy and I MUST learn more!
:note:
Interesting bits of trivia coming to you from Onigiri central! :p

Now that is interesting.
I have to say thanks for the insight on this.
There's also therories about young samurai, young boys of the period, onnagata and kabuki theatre.
Ok, a couple of odd questions.
Can anyone tell me the offical spelling of Colour Me Blood Red? I naturally spell 'colour' with a 'u' because that is how it is spelt here and it is the English spelling as well. I have seen it spelt both ways on the net, I'm wondering if anyone actually has a copy of the CD on which it features (i believe it appears on the Bel Air single) and could tell me.
The other question I have was, if I were to take a photo of Mana and have it printed onto a T-shirt, would this infringe copyright? Obviously, I did not take the photo.

Dec 4, 2003, 15:19
As long as you're not selling the shirt you've made then it's perfectly legal to my knowledge. (i've done it millions of times and I searched beforehand and found nothing, so it shouldn't be illegal o.O)
Sorry I don't have any help with Colour me blood red, ima go listen to the song now though ^.^

My fav. members is Kozi and Mana. I also liked the other members. But Kozi is just so cool in all ways, he used to joke around alot to, is there anyone else here that has seen and heard Kozi laughing, he got such a lovely laughter and also such a lovely smile and he is darn sexy and plays the guitar so well. And Mana is just so cool cause of his guitar playing and I just love the EGL style. And he is prettyer than me and that's not fair cause' I'm a girl and he is a man. Just look here (one normal picture and two when I'm cosplaying Mana, and one of Mana himself!) I know the pictures are bad quality.
I just got into MM and they are so awesome. I need to buy CD's though >.> Which should I get first? What's the best?
It all depends on which songs you like. Malice Mizer's music is so diverse, their albums are so different in music style, ...it all depends. So, what are some of your favorite songs?

I just got into MM and they are so awesome. I need to buy CD's though >.> Which should I get first? What's the best?
Merveilles, as their only major album, of course has higher production and sounds a little smoother. Merveilles is a very 'poppy' kind of CD, compared to their other albums, Bara no Seidou, Voyage sans Retour and Memoire. It has Illuminati, Bel Air, Ju te Veux, Gekka no Yasoukyouku, etc., basically the most popular Gackt songs.
Voyage is far more romantic sounding, with soft instruments and pretty much nothing hard that I can remember. Think Madrigal, Ma Cherie, AndthatothersongthatIcan'trememberrightnow. I didn't like Voyage as much as the other ones, but that's just me - soft music is okay but in moderation.
Bara no Seidou is 'gothic' sounding. Harpischords, organs, bells ringing, etc. Klaha does the vocals on this one, and boy is his voice beautiful ;_;
Bara no Seidou actually has very little vocals, I think there's only about 3-4 songs on there, if that, with Klaha singing in them. Most are instrumental, since this CD was probably largely recorded while they were still vocal-less, since Gackt had left a year and some earlier. Shiroi Hada ni Kuruu Ai to Kanashimi no Rondo is the best song on here (IMO). It also contains Kyomu no Naka Dennou Yuugi, Saikai no Chi to Bara (I may be wrong here), and some other songs which are very beautiful but my memory has failed me at the moment and refuses to produce the names of.
Memoire has Tetsu on vocals. Wild, wild Tetsu. =P
You probably won't like it, so I'll just tell you one thing: Baroque rules, so if you get Memoire, make sure to get Memoire DX - it has Baroque as a bonus track.

Compared to Gackt? I personally like Klaha's voice better. It's far more dramatic and can go lower, and sounds so very opera-y which went perfectly with MM's last era. Only thing Klaha couldn't sing was Kioku to Sora and Ma Cherie >_>;;
He sounded terrible singing those.

I personally love the Klaha version of Kioku to Sora ^^ he changes the lyrics of the song, so he can sing it very well, not as Gackt when he try to sing it with the Tetsu lyrics.
As for me, I really love all Malice Mizer songs, there are no song I don't like, really.
Ans about the best MM era... that doesn't exist. Malice Mizer is a really big and unexplored world, you can listen to all their songs, and watch all their videos but every time you listen them again you'll discover something new, that's why Malice Mizer isn't a dead band for me...
To all of you who are new to Malice Mizer, I reccomend "merveilles" album. If you like the romantic flavor that Gackt dives to Malice Mizer, you should listen "Voyage", a pretty good indies album, wich haves the vampiric "Transylvania" and the romantic "premier amour"... or the elektro "N.p.s N.g.s"... but in this album you'll get mostly smooth songs or french-flavored songs that you'll love, I'm sure.
If you want a more dark, mature sound, you must check Bara no Seidou and memoire. Bara no Seidou is a master piece and memoire is just epic... you'll love both.
And of course you can't forget the only singles songs: ma chérie (Band's hymn) and Uruwashiki kamen no shoutaijou (you MUST listen to this song, is beautiful), in Uruwashiki single you'll also get the B-side "Aprés Midi" wich is such a cute song written by közi, you can't resist to this song. And speaking of b-sides, you have check the Bel Air single, wich features another Közi b-side "Color me blood red", yet another elektro piece by közi (you love Illuminati? you'll love this! ^^).
And of course, the last MM trilogy with Klaha, wich are also a fan favourite: Gardenia, Beast of Blood and Garnet.
Beast of Blood are probably the fan favourite MM song ever.
If you like the baroque/classical touches and the hardness of Beast of Blood (and a bit of Black metal) then you'll love Moi dix Mois, Mana's new band. If you love Mana, you'll love this for sure. Its not Malice Mizer! you should know this... don't expect Malice Mizer 2 here... just... Mana + Black Metal + some very nice surprises = Moi dix Mois ^_^
But on the other hand we have Közi, who was the co-founder MM member and very important too... he is working in a solo project wich is VERY good!!~ he just released a double single, 4 songs, and all are pretty good... 2 elektro tunes, and 2 more soft/pop/danceable songs that you'll love if you like Aprés Midi or Brise.
His first album is just coming this 31th!!
Also, Közi is in the gothic duo "Eve of Destiny" along with Haruhiko Ash, if you like Industrial/Elektro music, I'm sure you'll like them... and if you like the Közi elektro stuff you'll love it anyway I'm sure ^^.
We are still waiting for Yu~ki...

Well i'm glad to hear someone agrees, all people've been saying up to this point is that Gackt's vocals were much better. I really think Klaha's suit the band; like Illaparatzo said he's more dramatic. I'll have to listen to his version of Kioku though...

Illaparatzo-sama
Mar 24, 2004, 15:04
His voice isn't better than Gackt's nor Klaha's, but I think only because he hasn't had as much training as those two have. He can have a really great voice if he is trained for a while. I like all of them equally, I think. A Mana's birthday event review is up at the MSN group Glam Japan.

Malice in english, and Mizer in french.
'Marisu Mizeru'
humm malice is a french word....so why in english then...humm

Apr 3, 2004, 13:24
Hmmm yes, Malice is actually both english and french words and I think it means the same... sorry I'm not english nor french navite speaker.
Now, I don't know if "Malice" is the same in french and in english, but its pronounced "Malis" or "Marisu" in romanization... I hope it makes sense...
Well my english dictionary says: (Malice from Old French), ya its kinda the same meaning, just in french we got 3 versions of the word.
anyway I don't really care, I just don't wanna sound like an idiot when I say it.

Apr 3, 2004, 13:37
If you're french then just pronounce the entire name in french.. Malice is like the name "Alice" but with a M =P
ok, the word Malice in both doesn't sound that different, but mizer its way different.

I really Like "Beast of Blood" by Malice Mizer because of it's aggressiveness, my little sister got me the album as a gift because I spent all my money on my Medical bills, so I think that's another reason why I like it because my sister (who's like 9) saved up all her money and bought it for me 'cause I was sick. . .+^_^+

I was really sad to hear that Schwarz Dien broke up. Mana was there manager, but then the lead singer disbanded and is trying to reform Malice Mizer as we speak! So I guess I am a little more okay with it now. hehe. But I like alot of Schwarz Dien's songs. They are really good! ^.^ I thought it was so funny when I heard that the singer sat down the mic in the middle of a concert, ran across the street to buy some tacos and then came back and started singing again! That is freakin' hilarious! :D

oboi. there will never be a "next" Malice Mizer, unless the original members decide to dump their current projects and start over again, and that is highly unlikely. Malice Mizer was and is one of a kind. I hope no one attempts to become them, because they'll just fail horribly.
If anyone's looking for another band "like" Malice Mizer, go for Lareine. They have that wonderful classical quality intertwined with VK.

I've never been on an EOD live... but I guess Közi and mostly Ash would be annoyed if all the fans they have are just MM fans wich goes in pseudo gothic lolita costumes.
But I don't think that Malice Mizer fans annoy them, because well... was Közi's old band afterall. I like elektro music so I like EOD, beside if it is Közi or not, I really like "Iconoclast" and "Eve of Destruction", awesome.
Like, if I have to choose beetwen a Gackt live or an EOD live, I choose Eve of Destiny ^_^
Twisted
Apr 10, 2004, 16:31
Well, the problem with EoD is that they hardly have any material out. Only "Desperado" has been published on a goth-compilation called the Black Bible.
The only way for them to build up a fanbase is either through concerts or by their previous activities.
I do believe they actually have a whole album out now though, which they should be selling at this concert. I hope Közi will also sell his new solo-album at this concert.

There is the Promo CD wich is very easy to find on internet, with 5 songs: Desperado, Nervous and Innocence, Dead Alive, Iconoclast and Garden for a Zearlot.
There is some compilations CD released by european goth magazines, with new songs like You Killed Me First and Eve of Destruction (wich is my favourite song).
And yes, they are almost to release their first Mini-CD "Nervous and Innocence" officialy... maybe they're selling it on the concert ^_^ let us know!
About the new Közi album, I don't think it will be selling on an EOD concert... would be like a miracle or something.

Apr 11, 2004, 23:32
Yeah, that promo has been sitting on my disk for quite some time, but it's no official release.
Well, the concert was great, although i was too close to the stage to actually enjoy the music.
Earlier that day we went shopping in the town that the concert was held. At 6 pm the shops closed and we had 3 hours to kill before the show started. We decided to walk to the venue to see where it was.
From there we walked to the train-station to grab a bite and while doing so, we encountered two familiar looking indivuals. Indeed, they were Haruhiko Ash and Közi... without make-up. I asked whether they were Eve of Destiny (i know, i was asking for the obvious) and they confirmed that. They didn't have time to stop though and kept walking. They did look very surprised that anyone actually recognized them.
Közi's hair was all grey, which made me wonder if that was his natural colour. After everything he has done to his hair in his Malice Mizer period, i wouldn't be surprised if it was. During the concert his hair was blonde.
After the show they didn't come out to meet their fans, nor did they sell any merchandise. We were able to go backstage though to ask for a photo (a friend of mine will write an article about them for an Anime magazine he works for). We had to do some fierce negotiating with their tourmanager to see them at all actually. They were quite strict about not mentioning Malice Mizer, since he didn't leave the band on very good terms. So much for having my cd-collection signed... :auch:
Took quite some pictures for them during the show, but most of them look more or less the same, since they kept standing in the same pose all the time. Below is one of them and i'll put the rest up on my website later today.

My, my. I assumed he had left the band under good terms, since whenever anyone mentions Mana he's apparently very happy "Mana-chan this, Mana-chan that", and doesn't act put out about anything. Of course, it's probably just a public show. He and Yu~ki both went to Klaha's birthday party about a year and a half ago and had pictures together and stuff, so I didn't think he was on the outs with either of them.... it may have been just a total togetherness meltdown? You know, you can have a group of friends and be on crap terms when they're all together but individually you're fine with them. I dunno. *shrug*

I don't know the exact story. I heard all this from someone who didn't speak Japanese either, so it might not have been a clash of egos at all. Perhaps he just wants to be recognized for his current work and not for what he has done in the past.
But then again, there wouldn't have been so many fangirls at the concert if he hadn't been in Malice Mizer. :)

sonotori..yokatte desu ne...
i, too, am a big fan of Gackt Camui, though i dont hav any of his albums (shoganai ne, okane wa arimasen). but still, i prefer Klaha to be the vocalist of mm. his vocal is very opera-like and it reminds me of the ol' gothic dramas with gargoyles on every corner of the stage. i think, he did a very good job in singing kioku to sora compared to the fail-to-screech voice of tetsu. man, i really had a hard time listening to his. as for Gackt's, his voice suits the romantical-french songs n the up-beat ones.au revoir and brise are good examples of those. he looked so kawaii when he pulled the christmas tree together with mana-sama^^. if you're a fan of gothic, medieval music, i recommend you to go for Bara no Seido. But, dont listen to Klaha's version of Ma Cherie, you'll be quite dissapointed. Of all these three, Gackt sings the song best. For those who have listened to Gackt's version of Baroque, doesnt he sounds cute in that song?
Anyway, have you ever heard of the rumour about the ex-mm's gettin together?is that true? man, i sure do hope so...

I love Malice Mizer.:rose: Alot of goth rock, kinda along the lines of Cradle Of Filth. IMO Merveilles was the best album! But I do love the old stuff too. I can listen to "Sadness" everyday.
You do know Cradle of Filth is considered black metal and not goth right? :relief:
Malice Mizer was the band that got me listening to j-rock, so, I like them very much because at that time I thought 'their music is really different'. In fact, I like heavier sort of music normally, but I found their music very skilful and interesting. I don't really have one favourite song, but... I like Klaha best out of the vocalists but it's a narrow margin... I actually preferred Gackt when he was with MM although I like *some* of his solo stuff and still think he's a good musician. My favourite of MM was Kozi, though :D
Sometimes, I think Western people might be attracted to Japanese music because there is something of energy and enthusiasm in their rock and goth music... of course, this still exists in little-known bands that play in pubs/bars around UK, there is lots of great music out there... but I mean, in the mainstream, I find UK and USA music at the moment to be missing some 'spark'. If you know what I mean.

Maybe I just haven't been introduced to enough J Rock, but I love Malice Mizer. My best friend can't stand them though, she thinks they're ridiculous and she says the music sounds like demented circus music. HA!
Malice Mizer is what expanded my musical palate into the Japanese musical world. (Well, Gackt's Vanilla was the first J Pop/Rock song I ever heard, but MM was next) The first time I heard Syunikiss... wow. That's currently my ringtone. And the bass-line in ILLUMINATI is so energetic - course, the tantric gyrating in the lives I've seen... wow. But I think my favorite MM song is Le Ciel at the moment, or Regret. So beautiful and intensely sad.
Course, I'm a Gackt fan myself, I know it's cliche or whatever for the Americans to love Gackt, but I really adore his work lyrically and musically. Same with Laruku.

a while ago i just downloaded illuminati live, whoa gackts legs are.. :o :o *touches screen mesmorised*
Hi there!
The second band that I know at first side was Malice Mizer!
I had some songs, but now I have all albums! I like Voyage sans retour best! Specially Itsuwari no musetté its so cute with that sound!:giggle: But I like Bois de Mervilles and Gekka no Yasonskyoku!
I've got many PVs too! Beast of Blood, Illuminati(live too),Gekka no Yasonskyoku, Au revoir, Garnet, Shiroi hada...:bravo:
Personally I like the Klaha era more than Gackt(is that true that Klaha has married?:worried: ) But Tetsu... ammm i don't like his voice.
I've heard about that film that they did but I don't know where can I see it! Please help me!
I don't like Mana cause I've heared that he kiks out the member of the band who doesn't agrre with him.:okashii: But I like Közi and Yuki!:D They're both funny! I've have an interwiew with them (99 questions)! If some one don't know it I can send it! It's soooooooooo funny! lol

malice mizer was the first jrock band i ever heard and i didnt like them to much cuz their classicalness, but syunikiss always got stuck in my head when i went into my friends profile and i started loving their sound :D :D
malice mizer was the first jrock band i ever heard and i didnt like them to much cuz their classicalness, but syunikiss always got stuck in my head when i went into my friends profile and i started loving their sound :D :D
it is similar for me that it was my first, and Syunikiss were my first song! I thought that it interested me the manner that they combined the classical sound with the rock and the goth, and the good guitar playing particularly the duets with the two guitars together very narrowly but without special solo... it really caught my attention. Now I know J-rock better, I always think that Malice Mizer are one of best and most original during their time (and naturally influential), but when I did not know J-rock, they seemed even more special and unique. :-)
I was searching for some malice songs and I found a show!
It's about Fishing lessons from Közi, Kami and Gackt! I upload it if someone wants?:-)

i wanna see those Fishing lessons Doll!! :yeahh:
It seems to me strange that there isn't more activity in Malice Mizer thread... since it seems a lot of people like them... :? anyway, I had a MM picture that I wanted to post, so I unearth the thread... :worried:

Illuminati was the first PV I saw of MM and it kinda threw me for a loop. On one hand it;s too good for words, on the other it was more low budget than I expected for a VK band. lol I think that was the first thing that made me begin to wonder for Mana's pocket book.

This is going to sound like a stupid question, but exactly what genre does Malice Mizer go under?:? Seriously, its hard to figure out because you can't just call them rock when you hear that song Ju Te Veux, and you can't call them pop when you hear Beast of Blood, and in the Bara no Seidou CD its all opera! And don't forget about Color me Blood Red it sounds kind of techno. Then theirs those Malice Mizer classical songs like Saikai no Chi to Bara and Zencho. So what is Malice Mizer classified as, because from the way I'm hearing their stuff, it's everything.

XD
right right.
Um, I just stache them under vk, while refering to their appearance vk bands so have a certain sound. Other than that I call them orchistrated metal. Theyre very orchestra metal like in the things they do. I wouldnt really consider their time with gackt as a defining movement in saying which genera they beling too because when gackt came they kinda went waaay off what theyre normal sound was and as soon as he left they obvioulsy went back to a sound that they thought really represented them.
I don't really think they returned to the sound "that really represented them" after Gackt left. I think all their sounds represented them because they were trying to show, through their music, what is really human. In trying to answer the question to what is really human, they had to show many different sides because humans are complex and have many different facets. Hence the songs of sadness, romance, anger, love, happiness, etc...

reh?
I agree but I was basing my statement off of an interview where mana says that malice mizer will be returning to their sound after gack left/ In many ways I think gackt was good for them but I always thought that the different types of musicthey wanted to produce were too different.

It was 7th anniversary of Kami's death on Wednesday 21st. :(
I didn't actually find that out until the following day. It was a bit strange, because, after not really thinking all that often of Kami lately, on Wednesday I suddenly found myself feeling particularly sad and melancholy, and thinking, "I miss Kami... well, I don't actually miss him as I never knew the guy... but I bet his friends all miss him, and think of him... I wonder when his anniversary is?" And then the next day I found out that it had been that day. :o
Anyway, I cannot for long feel too sad to remember Kami, somehow... *sigh*
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y288/Kinsao/Malice%20Mizer/kami.jpg
*cough* This is slightly away now... I was wondering, I have sometimes seen where Kozi wears a butterfly ring slightly like to the rings that Kami is wearing in the above picture. And I wondered, since Kami wears so many in that one photoshoot! whether he afterwards gave one to the other members of Malice Mizer. Do you think, maybe?
For example, here in this (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y288/Kinsao/Kozi/MM-kozi29-concentrating.jpg) picture you can see Kozi is wearing a butterfly ring, but I can't tell if it's the same type as Kami's or not. And I've seen it more recently as well...

Whoa, I've never noticed that before, but they DO look like the same ring. That would be wonderful if he gave one to all the other members! Now I'm going to have to pay attention to their hands in every picture I find for those butterfly rings...I'll post them if I find any.

Holy cow! I've found another pic of Kozi wearing what I thought was the same butterfly ring that he wore all those years ago on that pic with Zaku -- I knew I'd seen a recent pic with it somewhere! ^^ So, as proof that I'm not losing my mind:
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h275/coshh/Kozi/16.jpg
(I'd been wondering, in case you don't remember, whether Kami had given some of these rings to other members of Malice Mizer, since in one photoshoot Kami is wearing no less than 4 butterfly rings. O.o and it seemed that Kozi's resembled these, although I can't be sure if they are really the same or just alike.) :?

Mine as well. But I don't listen to them much anymore :(
I've drifted off into Gazette, Dir en grey, D'espa...etc...
But every now and then again I listen to one of their songs and it's nice. They were my first vk band and I'll always love them for that.

Many people listen to other bands now, because other bands are new and have new sound, and make new things still XD of course there are more reasons XD (I'm not one of them XD)
It's good that people still listen to them, and didn't forget about them. =)

I always love their music, even though they can't make anything new since they stopped activity.
I am not one of those who says 'I wish Malice Mizer would re-form'... because in order for such a thing to happen, it would have to have been comprised of a different kinds of people to begin with... they are themselves and no ones else, and to have any different would have been to have a different kind of 'Malice Mizer' from the beginning... and that isn't possible without altering the fabric of space and time... So I simply enjoy their music in the reality that we are in. :-)
............... Jeez that has to have been the most difficult bit of English I wrote for a long time! I hope I got that sentence right! :souka:
When you think about it, it's a testament to MM's greatness that people on forums all over the place continue to discuss them quite avidly despite the fact that they have been no longer for years! :p

My favorite Era is the Gackt one.. And not because Gackt was in it >.<
That's some people's reason, but not mine >.<

Hate to break up the wonderful conversation, but, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me out. I've been trying, ever since I first heard Malice Mizer to find some kind of piano sheet music for their songs. Any of them. I'd really love to find Gardenia or Tsuioku no Kakera, though I would'nt complain if I got others. So please, if you have any, or know where I could find any sheet music, it'd be greatly appreciated.
In short, piano sheet music, any song, will love you forever, that sort of thing.

I really haven't seen any music sheets from malice. It gives me the impression that this people like to keep their work for themselves, not that is bad, but well..
I havent listened to them lately either, but sometimes I wish they could do something new. Of course, it would be odd a re-band, cos I don't really think Tetsu would go back to it, GAckt No Way would go back to it, and Klaha is too desperate to go back to is to make it sound good... :D
I personally liked Tetsu's era better, then GACkt's, and hardly liked Klaha's. I really hated Klaha's voice. Is like it hurts when he sings (if you can call that singing). No offence.
Ah.. now that I remember. Midi:Nette is releasing a new compilation of singles to conmemorate the 10th anyversary of the band (c'mon!! that's not a celebration! Gather them back together!!) Ok, better not do that.. It would be scary to see Kami again... Those drum sticks he's playing with are soo cool!! :bluush: "Gurl! those are his arms!" XD
@ Mugetsu: I have the piano sheet music for Regret. If you pm me your email address, I'll send it to you! :p
lol, I actually quite like Klaha's voice (although if he really did train as an opera singer I would've expected it to be better). I don't really have a preference in the three singers because they each had their own style. :-)
Ah yes, I saw that about the compilation... could be a bit of a rip-off I think as there are already released some various box sets or whatever (I'm not sure what exactly) but I guess it depends on what you have already whether it's a good buy or not.
Woah yeah... better not wish for a reunion... sometimes you get what you wish for in the most unwanted ways... :souka:

Yes, is like there's something about this band.. Must be Mana queen...
they're disbanded, but they're still in our hearts.
It's so sad too!!! Somewhere I read a banner that said something like: "Your drums are heard on earth when you play them in heaven".. and It really touched my heart. They all still miss him so much. Specially Gackt.

Yes, I saw that banner as well!
I started to cry >.<
I miss Gackt as well, yes. Only, his solo now, so he didn't disappear. Which is good.

Yes... I know exactly what you mean... (even though they were my first Jrock band so...)
I can honestly say I have a lot to thank Malice Mizer for. *nods*
Hmmm, I like all of the eras, in different ways... I don't think I could pick a favourite. ^^
Kami... I feel really sorry for the other members, not to mention his family, and personal friends, of course. It's all very well for people to say "fangirls, you never knew Kami!", but there are plenty of people around who actually did, and it's them I feel for... :(

Though I should say, I saw people acting very hard on fans that do miss Kami. And when they try to talk about why theyre sad on that moment, they'r elike... Jeez, leave him alone >.<
Yeah - I wish people like that would just shut up, actually (the commenters, I mean). No one has a monopoly on the distribution of sadness. :okashii:

Look at what I found on youtube!:balloon:
It's Gackt and I think it's from the time when he was with or before he was with Malice Mizer but he's like with a different band though.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLpkbsy5_eY
A lot of people on youtube kept on saying that this performance was by the band Cain's:Feel.
But another person said that it is not from Cain's:Feel. But simply that Gackt was just a guest singer or something like that.

 yea i have seen this gackt long hair :bluush: i don't think it's cain's feel Gackt looks like he was already in malice mizer when this was shot YOU was in cain feel so if you can make him out then it is cains feel Ren also was suposed to be in it
the guy with the blonde wig is suposed to be Mana Sama but i didn't think it was him
but watching it a couple of times i'm not so sure
:souka: yea watching it again i think that is Mana Sama the way he moves and plays he has Manas movments
but Mana wasn't in cains feel :souka:

In that video I don't think the guitarist with the blonde wig is Mana-sama because the way he plays the guitar is not or doesn't seem like Mana's style.

Sep 14, 2006, 10:30
 i think you right in one of those comments someone said it was Mana Sama and i thought it wasn't then i thought it was then i was sure it wasn't
er anyway you get the idea
:( i couldn't tell if it was Mana Sama or not i'm a shamed fan
(runs away to study Mana Sama until she can tell)
I would say it's cains:feel. The left guitarist could be You.
And Gackts voice is not as good as it was in malice mizer times.
I'm sure this video is older :-)
