Who knows when this marvelous piece of work is coming out in America? I'd really appreciate any information that anyone has! I've looked all over the internet and the only things I can find are little rumors here and there. I've heard that it's going to be a movie that takes place 2 years after the actual game and that it's going to last 60 minutes. But does anyone know if there's any validity to this accusation? I'd deffinately appreciate it if someone could make a little sense out of all of this for me! :sorry:

I'm glad that it's real, but there are still a couple questions unanswered...like I said, i've heard many things about when it's scheduled to come out, and what it'll be released as. Hope it's not another game, that'd be absolutely tragic, i'd probably die before I got to see half of the cut scenes

-_-; There is speculation that it is not Sephy that cloud engages...thee is a scene in the trailer that may prove this...Sephy served no one and for him to kneel before someone is crazy talk...there is a belief that the short haired man in the trailer is another Sephy clone or Sephy's son...It is thought that the man he kneels before might be Sephy, if you check out the cloaked man's boots you will notice that they are similar to Sephy's boots from previous encounters...

I have also noticed that the short haired man resembles Sephy but not to the extent of being him...and he wields a different blade...not the masamune...although there is speculation that the blade he wields might be the masamune broke into two pieces and made into that sword.....but yeah...

The name Advent Children basically means "The Coming of Children" so we will have to wait till the m,ovie comes out to know for sure...

Wether there will be an American release is not set/is unknown...however the release for Japan is Summer of 2004, only on DVD....blah...I'm done....I hope this information helps ^_^;

I downloaded the trailer after seeing it on TechTV's "X-Play".
It's beautiful!
Good to know that it has a set release date...most of the things I love most dont have nice stuffs like that (like Harvest Moon for GC)

I've heard that the clip they show of Sephiroth walking into the flames (just as he did in the game) does not guarantee his part in the movie. I hope he's there though >.< Sephy's so beautiful....*sigh*

I had also heard about the clones...but one can just imagine how GREAT this movie is goingto be. There was even a rumor about somethingelse in this....but my brain wont spit it out!!!

It looks soo good. That guy with the silver hair might be part of that soldier project and thats why he looks like sephiroth. I wonder in the trailer, I believe that is cloud talking and saying he wants to be forgived. I wonder if he is talking about Aertih and if she has any role in this movie. Just a thought.

Myehehehe, oddly enough i'm really psyched about this whole movie thing (because I like Final Fantasy) but i've never played FFVII (it's the only one i've not yet played) and I wonder...who's Tifa? I know the characters by the way they look, but not names...I really should play sometime shouldn't I?

you havnt played it yet?! If your gonna see the movie then you have to play the game. Its the best ever. My fave RPG and my first. I shall never forget that game. If you want to know who tifa is go to the thread fave FF7 girl her pics up there. Go play right now. Leave you house, go to the store, go back home, turn ps2 or ps1 which ever you have on. Never leave or talk to anyone til you finish that game.

Oh yeah...hah, well...
I just beat the first Arena.
I ran over to the second bridge and cut the rope with my newfangled sword and then I led Yorda down into the graveyard. I pushed the box and got her to open the glowing doors. I wondered around the area with the waterfall for awhile and finally succeeded in opening the barred door and getting Yorda to climb onto the elevator. So now I can get her to the water, but I can't figure out what to do from there.

I've seen many many screenshots of this and they made Sephiroth look scary and ugly! I mean, he's cool in the original game, but what did they do to him? Are they just trying to make the characters look realistic or purposely making him ugly?!

Yes, Final Fantasy: Advent Children is due out sometime this summer. This is subject to change, says SquareEnix, but that is what it is looking like at the moment. I, personally, cannot wait to have my own copy! :D

I spent quite a bit of time on this game and i have one of those complete saves and i was happy when that happened. It tooks me months to get 8 Master Magic and Command materias.

I spent quite a bit of time on this game and i have one of those complete saves and i was happy when that happened. It tooks me months to get 8 Master Magic and Command materias.

wow...i wasn't that diligent, i just kinda rushed through it in a coupla weeks. i think i have 5 or so master materias, but those are only because i had them all on cloud and of course he's in every battle...i haven't gotten the gold chocobo yet, and i still have to beat the emerald and ruby weapons. i beat the game but i guess i haven't mastered it yet... :-)

I played and did just about everything I could in FF7 but maybe I missed some stuff. I had it on the original playstation and I always wanted to get it for the PC.

Does anybody know what the difference was between the original and platinum versions?

Also, did I miss anything big after that?

Well...the only difference I know was between FF7 jp, 1st edition and the eastern one who was featured with ruby and emerald weapons...

In Japan, you can get the FF7 4th disc which contains extras. It's pretty cool as collection.

Maybe the Platinum had the extras...not really sure...It goes for about a 100 dollars on line.

lol I think I got almost every possible items/materias in this game ^^
Beside Emerald weapon isn't really ahrd to beat since I even forgot to equip the materia that allowed me to breath underwater and still beat it XD
I had more problem with ruby but with final attack+phoenix it was easy :p
Oh, and I had the 3 master materias for each characters because the magic pots in the northern caverns give you lot of AP (even through it took me 15-20 hours).
The only thing I haven't done yet is to modify the game's memory and use aerith after she died :D (but I dunno what to alter through)

*eyes get big and round*i didn't even know there was a materia for breathing underwater, and i know nothing of magic pots... :D i love surprises! now i can spend the next month playing five hours a day until i get everything! <yea!>

Well...actually there're lot of items that can be missed, such as the starlight phone, the aegis armlet, bolt ring/mithril (for aerith last limite) and so...however the underwater materia is kinda tricky to find ^^

Good points....most people do miss a lot of the items.

I had some really big doubts about it when i first heard it mentioned, but from the looks of all the trailers out there (even though most is just the same footage :okashii: ) it looks like it is well on its way to being something special. I guess none of us can be sure until it comes out, but i have high hopes :balloon:

And how would you use aerith. Because like dreamer i have don'e and got everything except this. FF7 being my favorite out of all of them.those damn pots by the way.....it dose take a long time :relief: But aerith and sephiroth those are the two i haven't played as. except sephiroth on that little mind trip but i want to PLAY AS HIM.

Well actually there's a not so conventionnal way to get either sephiroth or aerith back by "hacking" the game's memory. However I never found anything about it ^^'
So far I've only seen some screenshots, and a friend of mine playing with a psx savegame he found on the web.

As for the underwater materia, in case you didn't figured it out yet you have to morph the monster called "saint elm fire" who's found in the underwater reactor, in the corridor just before the elevator. You should then obtain the guide which you can trade in Kalm (the first vilalge you encounter after escaping midgar)

I must say FF7 is a game I enjoy even after beating it many times.
Now the new DVD coming out I also wanna check out.

You really shouldn't down that film to be quite honest. If it had not been for Final Fantasy fanatics that coldn't bear to have FFVII turned into a movie at the time, it would have been looked at as the first steps to having perfectly rendered CGI characters in a movie that are indistinguishable from the real thing.

The plot leaves a lot to be desired for some, and in some ways, I wish they had done the plot a little differently. But overall, I am still impressed, and still enjoy the film everytime I see it. It even still saddens me to this day to see The Final Flight of the Osiris on the Animatrix because it shows what Square Pictures were capable of.

I realise that Advent is being made by many of the SP team, but to me, it still isn't the same. It seems to me that they are trying to show the world they can do great things while limiting themselves to catering to the fanboys.

It looks nice, but it would have been nicer to see those talents work in another feature film.

My opinion, that's all.

But honestly I think it left much to be desired. Certainly I was very impressed by the amazing CGI - but the movie wasn't anything special in my opinion.

I'd personally rather see real people do some of the things they use CGI for. I'm fine with it as long as it doesn't push everything else aside. People can get so lazy =.=

Well, I think that it can be done and not even for fanboys, if done right. I think that SQUARE Pictures had the right idea and never got to implement it any further. Who knows, maybe Advent will allow them to gain some ground back with the public, I just don't want it to end up being rehash after rehash.

I don't really want to hear it in English either. But there's no reason why they wouldn't include Japanese language options in the dvd. Besides, if you import it you'll have to get your hands on a region 2 dvd player - because Japanese dvd's aren't compatible with ours. Unless of course you have a region 2 dvd player! XD

onigiri, most dvd-players can be easily modified to play all regions DVDs just by pressing a combination of preset buttons the developers like to keep in there for some reason :p

check around the web for your model...
if you REALLY want a region free DVD player all pre-fixed (and legal.. i dunno...is it illegal per-se to hack your DVD?) and nice though, www.jlist.com sells them ^^

The trailor has been newly added to the "site" , but this is not a new trailor. It has been shown at the JumpFesta of last year , or so i read at adventchildren.net (haven't checked the trailor myself .. :relief: )

According to the translation of the fourth trailer that's been posted at ff7ac.net, the Wheelchair Man is Rufus Shinra, not Sephiroth--although I thought it was Sephy also when I first saw the trailers.

You're telling me that in a game where the final boss you fight is a clone of the original "man" that NO ONE can be saved and just very, very scarred. For all we know, Rufus could have implanted himself (or had Hojo implant him) with a small number of Jenova cells before the Diamond Weapon blasted him. Anything that they don't tell us didn't happen is fair game, and the "official" transcript of that fourth trailer says that it IS Rufus Shinra, and the Official cast listing says that Rufus has a VA whether it's him in the wheelchair or it's just a flashback.

Im not sure if you have all ready found out yet, but if I am correct in understanding your question, Advent Children is a movie that takes place several years after the game ends. The characters are almost all the same, just with a twist to it. Basically a grahpics-galore extravaganza, but a must see in terms of content as well.

*nods fervently* I absolutely adore the seiryuu of Kadaj! The voices of everyone matched their characters so much! *giggles at how indignant Yuffie sounded when she asked Tifa about the materia* Reno's trademark 'zotto' (I'm not sure about the true pronunciation), Loz's 'asoubo?' as well as Vince's voice... all of them were really good.

And that's only the voice. The rendering of their graphics were amazing, the fight scenes jaw-dropping, and Sephiroth... *goes a drooling* My only complaint was that they don't get dirty or look hurt; there wasn't even any blood after getting 'stabbed'! :relief: Still, on hearing from my sis that you'll have to render and 'draw' the character all over again just to see the blood flowing or wrinkled shirt, I understood the reason immediately. Not surprising, it's already taken them so long to create this movie... to make it absolutely perfect will cause the fans to scream at the amount time they take to do it!

The ending was beautiful... for those who haven't watched it, let's just say that I'm like, 'awww...', and that's discounting the fact that I squealed on seeing those two people :wave:

Yeah, I loved Reno's "zotto." I wonder how they'll translate that into English, though. I know some people translated it as "yo," and it make a lot of people mad. :lol:

About the blood: I doubt it had much to do with what you said, as it did with this: Their target audience is kids and teenagers, so they wanted to maintain a PG rating, as they do with all their games. Adding blood really isn't that difficult.. I mean, we do see blood in one scene, near the end. (don't want to spoil it for anyone..)

I didnt like it, i think i set my expectations too high and it didnt live up to them.
Although i gotta say that the animation was amazing, sometimes it didnt feel like watching an animation but more like a live action.

Also thought the OVA (Last Order) was a bit boring as well.

Although really i wasnt much of a fan of FF7 in the first place, prefered FF6 more. :P

-SPOILERS for Last Order in my post!!-

Haha, Last Order was crap. :p So many inconsistencies when compared to the original game:

-Tifa's dad being in the wrong spot when she finds him.
-Sephiroth jumping into the Lifestream (after he stabbed Cloud and Cloud threw him using the momentum of the sword, Sephy was supposed to fall into the Lifestream)
-The fight between Sephiroth and Cloud not being on the catwalk.
-Tifa's huge nose XDDD
-Spelling inconsistencies: seeing Zack and Zax on the same page of the reports was a bit odd. :p

etc... I didn't really like the style or the animation, either. :\ Some parts were lazy and lacking frames.

You're telling me that in a game where the final boss you fight is a clone of the original "man"

Safer Sephiroth was not a clone of Sephiroth... and when they say "Sephiroth Clone" in the game, they're talking about people who were injected with J-Cells and infused with Mako as Sephiroth had been. They aren't actually clones of Sephiroth.

did anyone see that cloud pulls out a sword out of nowhere during the fight where the silverhaired guy hits the buster sword out of his hand?

Kadaj turned me on. Seriously. His voice actor did the most amazing job. And... whoever designed his character... Err.

This movie is good. I liked it a lot.

Okay, that silly exclamation aside, I've recently chanced upon this site, and the explanation it gave on Cloud's swords had me going 'wow'. Admittedly, I had been fascinated with how his swords could all be combined into such a cool one, but never had I thought that someone would actually go... er, investigate on how it is all done. It was a kinda good report, so anyone who wants to read it could probably go check it out:

BTW I just got done watch the movie last night, and I must say it is THE BEST video game movie EVER. I thought it was a great closing for Cloud's story, especially the very end. :-)

Go for the Original with Japanese names, if it still works (it may be down now because more people were using that one). The English ones kinda suck.. :okashii:
