Just curious, it seems like everyone always likes Hyde. I disagree, I don't think he is as good of a singer that people say. He doesn't even sing in key in concert. Don't get me wrong, I like Laruku. But Hyde's new album, 666??? Who is he trying to be, some tough devil rocker? He's far from it and his wanna-be tough attitude just doesn't work.

I saw one of his music videos on the International Channel the other day and I didn't care for it. The singer didn't seem to put his heart and soul into the song, the video didn't make any sense, and I think Hyde trys too hard to look like a tough guy.

I have only seen one video and heard only one song, so maybe I will hear another and change my mind about the guy.

I think Hyde is definately overrated. Admittedly, he has a much better voice then another severely overrated singer, Gackt, but Hyde still isnt all that in my ears.

And his album is 666? I'm pretty sure he doesnt know the first thing about the Anti-Christ philosophy. Sad.

I'm not crazy about him, he's an okay singer (if marginally dull) and a really crappy actor (just watch Moonchild) plus he doesn't seem to have much of a personality. Gackt has a beyooootiful voice in my humble opinion, and the fact that he seems a few planks short of a coffin adds to that. Insanity is cool. He's also quite sexy (even if he does stuff his pants :eek: ) Really it's like arguing over Pepsi vs. Coke, there isn't a huge difference and it really doesn't matter much anyway, as for the whole '666' thing Hyde's obviously just trying to look tough as being 'hardcore' is a trend right now:mad:

Im not too keen on Hyde. His new album aint too crash hot, and hes just going on the "im popular so i dont need to try" thing. Same as gakt, hes just too arrogant for my liking.

He's not very attractive IMO... then again, Gackt isn't looking too well lately either. I couldn't get into Laruku since it was a bit too poppish for my tastes, and his solo stuff doesn't appeal to me either. Oh well.

Dont put words in my mouth. I never said he had an awful voice, but its not impressive. To me, he sings with a souless sound. No heart. His voice sounds flat, and his vibrato is irritating. Makes him sound like he's nervous or something.

Fangirl is basically a groupie. Tell me, how many here would love to make out with Gackt, or Hyde, or whoever. How many here tend to buy anything related to the like? How many here would support either if either were discovered to be racist fanatics and the like?

Dont act like you've never heard the term fangirl or fanboy before.

And if you truly havent, then you just learned something today.

Funny, I've never thought of Gackt as arrogant. I don't think he has as much talent as some, as far as singing goes, but he certainly has a pretty face and sometimes that's all it takes.
I'm none too much of a fan of Hyde either, but then, I haven't paid him or his music much attention so I don't dislike him.

Why should people only be allowed to express their opinion if they are a fan? Hyde-Sama, people have the right to say what they dislike. It's all good if you like Hyde yourself, but lighten up, there's nothing wrong with poking some fun.

It's the lips. His lips are terrifying now. They look like flaps of skin. Of course, they were before, but they weren't shapeless flaps of skin like they are now. I almost couldn't watch the Kimi ga Oikaketa PV because of - no, not the horrid song itself - the lips. Very scary.

I admire the way you articulate your opinions.

I agree with anti-hyde on the expressing of unpopular opinions. There is nothing wrong expressing ones dislike of another, just so long as its done tastefully and intelligently.

Its a good idea to not be afraid to hear an opinion that totally defies ones own opinion. Otherwise things would be boring.

I wonder if I could post my opinion here too... as for me, I'm not that familiar with Hyde's music. I've only seen Moonchild and listened to a few of his songs. I didn't like him, though. But I don't dislike him either. He's basicly nobody to me. But he looks nice if you ask me. Hyde is equally bad actor as Gackt i think. They both should stick with music.
Um, but Gackt's a great singer! He might be overrated just like Winter says but I think he's talented and all.
I've never thought about that Gackt has done something to his lips, though. Gee, i like his lips! And I think I would make out with him a bit if I could... :blush: Haha, if he's 30-year-old then I'm not THAT young. ;) But I'm definitely not a 'fangirl' because i don't like everything related to him.

About Hyde:
666 was made because the fans on HYDEIEST where complaining that Hyde had betrayed his rock roots and was going slow pop [ROENTGEN]. So at the beginning of 2003 Hyde was telling everyone on HYDEIEST how he was going to do rock again starting with his HELLO single. I own the 666 album and it may not be the best thing ever, but SWEET VANILLA, PRAYER, SHINING OVER YOU, and MASQUERADE are really good songs in my opinion.
I've never been a big fan of the solo thing, but now that the group is back again, I'm looking forward to hearing READY STEADY GO on MS this week.

About Gackt:
I have his Crescent album. I don't really like his music that much. Some of my favorite Crescent tracks are 君が待っているから [kimi ga matteiru kara], Lust For Blood , White Eyes, Last Song, and オレンジの太陽 [orenji no taiyou]... I think I don't liked him after I read his autobiography.

- The Devil

Hyde himself said that 666 means just that: 666. He thought it was creative that everyone guessed it meant sex sex sex and said he didn't about the fact that it was also the sign for the devil.
The staff also surprised Hyde by labeling the album's catalog number KSCL-666

Wonderful, wonderful bashing. It'll be fun to start posting on here again. Now to answer on a few things.

The post about the International Channel PV was probably HYDE - HELLO. Compared to the other rock songs on 666, HELLO was so-so. I liked 666 quite a bit, and Gackt's Crescent. Whoever named the songs from those albums that they liked, typed out the same songs that I would have.

When you change your style, bad things are bound to happen. I continue to support them as artists regardless of the way they look or perform. I find their music to be of a high enough quality for me to purchase it.

For me, that's all there is to it.

On a sidenote, if someone has a way to send me READY STEADY GO from MS, or a way to get me the PV, i'd really appreciate it. I've been waiting for new Laruku ever since I heard about the new album.

Oh well, I'm done for now. It looks like Japan Forum will be a lot more fun then it used to.:cool:

i'm new here and i think this post is a little old now... i mean, there are loads of other "i hate hyde and gackt so join along in the bandwagon" threads.

i'm generally okay with both hyde and gackt. at first, i thought gackt was just too pretty to be a gal and i would mock my guy-friend who was so obsessed with him. then i watched Moon Child (watched it because of Wang Lee Hom, not hyde or gackt) and the movie was okay and i do have to agree that gackt's smile does seem a lil, how do you put it... freakish. when he smiled (the part where he finally caught the cigarette between his fingers in Moon Child), i had shivers.

i'm not sure if the whole plastic surgery thing is true but if it is then i understand now why gackt is prettier than most gals. *runs away frm angry fangirls* and yes i admit, i am a bit confused as to what fangirls really mean. i know they are a group but what does it really mean?

hyde is okay in my opinion. i like his song Evergreen, White Song and Shallow Sleep. i think i prefer his slow songs and Hello sits well with me though it's not my favourite song. have yet to purchase or download (pardon me for being so stingy coz i really can't afford to buy and the albums are hard to find from where i am) their albums so i can't say much about their singing.

p/s for those who think hyde is a lousy singer, try listening to White Song. you may change your mind but then, one man's meat is another man's poison.

Well, I think I need to express my opinion as well, because I love hyde, at least the image I have of him. I am a fan and I am a girl, but I'm obviously not what was defined here as fangirl - e.g. I don't like ROENTGEN so much, didn't buy or download it.
I like 666 very much, though I think he could do it better - he shows that he can play the guitar on roentgen and should use those skills much more in his rock music (I hope he'll stick to that, cause I'm basicly a hard rock fan). About his voice there's really nothing to complain! He has one of the best voices I've ever listened to! And that you can check out in the songs from 666 that were mentioned above. I think his voice comes out on that album better than ever before. And singing out of the line in a live concert - well I've been on many concerts of many different artists and only few of them didn't sing out of the line!

I'm amazed everytime I listen to music of hyde or laruku, that this tiny person has such a volumy and diverse voice!

Not to forget: he writes all his music and lyrics himself, which enough other "artists" don't!

I agree, that everybody should be free to express of whatever opinion he or she is!

All the HydexGackt rumors started because of Hyde saying how Gackt helps him talk about his "hidden" self... and then later the Gackt kissing thing. I just think they're good friends because they're both in the same position. They're around the same age so they have more things to talk about and they are both idolized and their every step is watched. I dunno... maybe for them it's nice to talk to someone who has had the same experience [Ex: like dealing with fame].

Like some others who have posted in this thread, I'm not too familiar with Hyde. I've downloaded L'Arc songs, and his solo stuff as well. So far, I like his L'Arc stuff better. Particularly from Dune. As a personality, Hyde seems very withdrawn. Certainly not like the media ***** (i mean media ***** in a positive sense) that is Gackt.

I think my favorite song is Cape of Storms. *listens to it*

I was a bit weirded out by the fact that the song was written in English...but when I listened to it, I realized that song would've been strange in any other language. So I love it :) (English is such a harsh language, it really gives the song more conviction)

I'm not sure what sort of humour you view as dark - but generally the exact deffinition lies in irony...I see no irony in a thing you've said.

If you read what I wrote more closely you'd see that I was not trying to tell you who you were or display anything remotely like intelligence - I was simply making an observation. And I stated it as such. Because not only are you an absolute stranger to me, but I don't wish to get to know you any better than I have.
And dark humor, if you are to look for it, is generally percieved as a collection or dark irony. I believe that's the only bit I stated as fact.
But I might just consider your suggestion...then again who would want to read a book about my observations? o.O
I certainly wouldn't pick up a book like that.
Maybe you should try your hand at it though? Your last message was not only creative but gramatically correct and written very well. You may have a future waiting for you as an author.

As for me, I think i'll stick to waiting around by the computer for more clever remarks from the fourth season of the year.

Sasuke - this thread was made by Anti-Hyde not Winter. From what I've witnessed, Winter is actually one of the few level headed people in this forum. And I'm sure he's not the only one that's frustrated by the overwhelming and non-stop threads on Japanese pretty boys. He would try to get the fangirls to explain why they like these creatures and a lot of them would claim that looks aren't important and that the music takes precedence. Yet, these same foaming-at-the-mouth geekettes spout drivel such as "Ooooh! Gackt/Hyde/transvestite-whatever is sooooo cute!! I just want to pinch him/her!" negating anything they've said. I for one, see his point.

Onigiri chan was right when she said - Let's stop fueding in here and give it a rest. What does it matter who likes what and who doesn't? Everyone has their own likes, which may be different to other's likes. That's one of the things that makes us all individual.
And as for your last comment, that doesn't makes us lesbians!!! We are not chasing the girls who look like guys! We just like the sensitive type of guy, good looking, cool etc. These days I read that women don't go so much for the masculane type of guy, coz they are the more likely to cheat on a woman. (That's what I read in an article in newspaper.) I don't know what girls see in Brad Pitt types. I much prefer Johnny Depp (* who was recently voted "World's Sexiest Man" by some magazine or other.)
And so what if we like cute guys? Hyde is top of the Cool as far as we are concered! We don't care what anyone else thinks about that, just let us get on with it, without complaining about what makes us happy! We are not doing anybody any harm. I don't care for Hyde. I find his music is so-so, but I guess every time I see an interview of his on pop japan tv or some other show, he tries so hard to come up with something profound that it looks fake, and his response time is far too slow, even with editing available for tv. He looks like a Gackt-wannabe.

Having said that, some songs by Gackt are ok, but at least his interviews are humorous to watch, especially on the HeyHeyHey show....

Having said that, these are just my views. Anybody taking issues with this must also realize that since I'm this site's Expert Know-it-nothing, you'll have to prove you know less than I do before matching witless comments with the likes of ME! :D

I've seen a few of Hyde's music videos and I don't care for them. I don't care for his sound (not enough heart in soul in the music), his look (seems like he wants to be a tough guy, but can't pull it off), and none of the videos seem to have a point to them.

I don't like Hyde, but more power to the people who do.

I'd like to disagree to this anti-hyde thread... men, when was i wrong when i choose to love his voice? i love his voice the first time ive heard of niji and 4th ave cafe so that my fascination to his voice became an addiction already,
...why do people compare artists to other artists just to throw foul or unfavorable comments to the one they dislikes?

...whatever happens, whatever bad or worst comments u got about hyde this will never change my liking him and laruku music, period!
