Question 1: What sect of Buddhism is practiced by the majority of the Japanese population?

Question 2: Can the sect that is practiced by the majority be broken down into any sub sects, and if it can, which one of these are practiced by the majority of the Japanese population?

Question 3: Do most Japanese adhere to 2 faiths, IE Shinto and Buddhism?

Question 4: So using Shinto/Buddhism or Shinto and Buddism is correct instead of using Shinto Buddhism, as Japanese people do not combine them and make a new religion, they just observe them both, right?

#2. There are many divisions within Shin Buddhism. The top two are Nishi (Honpa) Hongwanji and Higashi Hongwanji.
#3. The majority do incorporate both Shinto and Buddhist beliefs, yes.
#4. Yes, they should be refered to as Buddhism and Shinto not Shinto Buddhism.
