Is this a real old sword or a modern copy ?? I think meaning and style of writing has changed over time and being able to translate it might depend on how old the writing is. Something new might just have jbberish on it to make it look cool. I hope someone lets us know !!

It isn't gibberish -- the bottom part is a date for sure, I'm just not sure of the first two or three.

Konnichiwa Makov25-san!

The first part of characters are the name of Japanese era "Eiroku". "Eiroku" is written in two Kanji.

After characters are a date, June. 9. 11 years of the Genroku era. It is 1568 in the Christian Era.

But figure of year is unreliable, I think it is 11 or 13.:p

if its an older sword then why are the kanji coming out of the sword? every true old samurai sword i have seen the kanji were always ingraved into the blade

It looks like "Eiroku 13 Nen, 6 Gatsu, 9 Nichi"

The 18th year of the Eiroku period, June 9th.

Swords shouldn't have inscriptions on the blade. Any designs should be on the hilt.
