Doesn't it change the forum design once you refresh the screen ? For me it works. Even when I log off and in again, the last design I have clicked is kept in my preference.

nah, even though the url is correct up top no matter the style id # is, it still gives me the forum default.

Gotcha! :note: I wonder how are they going to fix the design...maybe i by letting us choose to what we wantto set it too in preferences..that is when it gets fixed or would it be like board wide

I love the design the way it is now. Though the old forum style will always hold a special place in my heart. *sniff* It gave it sort of an Asian feel to the forum.
Is it possible to be able to make your own. Add your own background and color scheme and everything? I would deffently deck mine out with a nifty looking Sesshoumaru-Sama background. ^_^

Feb 29, 2004, 14:24
As I said, once the buf is fixed, everybody will be able to choose their default style among those listed above (and maybe others).

Actually, this year, the cherry blossoms are very early. The ones near my house are already blossoming since last week (late February !). It's more than a month early. But we also had 20 degrees last Sunday in Tokyo, which is not less unusual for this season.

Mar 2, 2004, 12:08
Spring, to put it succinctly, is a great time to listen to some hard, sentimental surf rock as the sakuras bloom like heaven. A time for mediatation, a time to rekindle relationships, a time for a new beginning to things. A time for monkey-dancing, as well as para-para. A time to be alive again. Alive to bask in the ethos of that lating phrase...Carpe diem.

You sure it wasn't Ume (Plum blossom)? Ume comes in white and various pinks and blooms from middle February. Sakura doesn't come here (lower Kyushu - where everything is often earlier than Honshu) until the middle of March.

Isnt there a way that we can each personally customize what we want to see on the forum. I think that would be better. Purple wasnt an option and that makes me sad no just kidding. Oh and hi esca missed ya. PM whenever.

Ok how bought lavender or a mix of blue and purple cuz you know those two colors go together but I still think we should be able to customize.
Hachiko
Mar 6, 2004, 16:34
Of course, purple is what I've been most used to, so if this sticks, so be it. In the words of Sheryl Crow, "A change will do you good." But old-school Beige is a respectable third, paying homage to the description maxim, "Oldies, but goodies."

I have created a "lavender" (not sure if it's the colors you imagined ?) design. Tell me what you think and if there are colors you want to change. I think it goes well with the colorful logo. :-)
I can also change the icons and buttons for each style (or create new ones, but it takes longer). Do you prefer the new/old icons (ex. index pages => new or no new messages) and new/old buttons (ex "post reply", "quote"...) ? If you are not sure which ones are new or old, the vB3 style use all the new ones, while the beige style uses all the old ones.

When a site has a black background, it almost gives me a draining feeling. I think that is much more soothing and calming than any lavendar colortone.

The black has a cozy feeling to it even though it does look Halloween-ish. Yet I don't think any other color besides orange would really work for it.
Besides, it matches my 'level of posts' belt.

That is because of the encoding. I had to choose one style with Japanese encoding and opted for the default.

Hi Lina,

I used PhotoImpact to color it just so you get the general idea. If you send me that vb file and the related images ("Post reply" button, "Quote" button etc.), I'll create a proper color scheme :haihai:
Ok, I could probably save the button images right here from my browser, but I have no idea how I could get that vb file... :relief:
Please mail it to LinaInverse (a) vorsicht-scharf.de
...
Ok, I've looked at the browser cache now and found pretty much all the images (except for the little computer icon in the lower left, which only mods have as jeisan said).
I also found a css file named "style-71ee499e-00001.css" which reads inside:
/* vBulletin 3 CSS For Style 'Vb Blue' (styleid: 1) */
and defines all the colors 'n' stuff. Guess it's that file you mean by "vb file", right?

Really looks awesome! :bravo:  :cheer: :win: :thankyou:
The flag works now as well, btw.
edit: I've looked around now and everything looks fine, with two exceptions:
- the "Quote" button doesn't display, instead there's a small bubble :relief:
- the "Edit" button has the wrong color and also an ugly white border at the top
I've attached the proper versions of the two buttons. Please fix it.
edit2: Also, the post icons (below the compose window) are still those from the vb blue style. Orange post icons were included in the zip file I sent you.

Ok, now that that's fixed as well, there's just one last thing: in the current logo (in the upper left), the kanji are a little hard to make out :relief:
So I made a new logo that's a little bigger, where you can clearly recognize them. I've attached it below.

Once you select a design (i.e. at the bottom to the left in the design chooser), it is remembered for all further logins.
You can also set you default style in the User CP -> options. ;-)
if you set the style in the user cp it will be remembered in your profile as the default so if you log out then log back in it will switch to the one you chose.
using the selecter near the bottom left of every page will set that as your color until you log out and then it will revert to the forum default (orange-grey) that is unless youve set a different color in your user cp.
