Just a quick question for the people in the know. Who are top female idols at the moment? Can you all throw some names at me with possibly some web sites that you can recommend so I can get up to scratch with who's who.

I've been out of the J-scene for a while so I'm pretty sure all the beutiful ladies who were all over magazines, tv shows, movies etc are probably c-list by now.

Who are the most popular male actors in Japan. It is difficult to get Japanese movies here in the United States. I think Ken Watanabe is a wonderful actor (and should have been nominated for best actor not best supporting actor, he was the star of The Last Samurai) but I have not been able to get any of his other films here. I also like Hiroyuki Sanada. I look forward to seeing Mr. Watanabe in Batman when it comes out next year. I am sure he will steal this movie with his acting talent. Any suggestions for music? I don't care for hip hop or rap but I do like rock and roll and classical. I would like to purchase some CD's of Japanese musicians but do not know which are the best.

As for horseback riding, I can live without it. Fell off a pony while at the zoo when I was eight and was traumatized. Haven't gotten on any of the darn beasts since.

There are thousands of female idols in Japan. Too many to know all of them. However, a dozen are known by about all the Japanese because they often appear on TV shows or commercials (eg. Koike Keiko, Matsuura Aya...)

Yinling (or "Inrin" in Japanese) is a half-Taiwanese half-Japanese idol and she is becoming increasingly popular. She already made the front page of some weekly magazines (which first page is advertised inside trains) next to Bush and Saddam last year (just to show how important she is to the Japanese readers). Now she appears on TV shows almost every week (usually from midnight, on the main free channels). I usually watch because she happens to be a friend of my wife.

good thing we have ASIAN SCREEN for that on MTV in HOLLAND :-)

every friday at 22.00 the show an Asian movie, like infernal affairs, zebraman ju-on etc. And on TMF another music station the aired 5 Cowboy Cebop episodes spraided over 5 weeks :-)
