I know this isn't all that "Japan-related" but I'm interested in traveling to other parts of Asia and I only know about Japan. I've been to Thailand and now I think I'd like to go to China. I'm thinking I'd go to Japan first and travel to Asia from there. I've been checking out air fares from Tokyo, and of the places in China, Hong Kong is really cheap, and Beijing and Shanghai are much more expensive. (On a side note, Singapore is also cheap.)
I don't know much about the rest of Asia, and I'd like some help getting started. What places in Asia have you heard good things about or been to and enjoyed?
