In Japanese movies, and TV shows, I've seen these giant screens that play news reports on it that large crowds gather around. What is it called? Do they run anything other than news on it? Do they have these all over or in certain areas? I'm just wondering because I want to feature one in my manga, but I want to get it right. Domo arigatou. :p

Except the case of when you call it by a particular name of it like "ALTA vision" or "109 vision", it's called

aurora vision
okugai vision (okugai i.e. open-air)
oogata vision (oogata i.e. king-sized)

or
okugai screen
oogata screen

"aurora vision" is the one of brand names of Mitsubishi, but somehow it's often used to collectively refer to the big screen on the building. :o

i like links, makes me sounds more coherant and less ranty (like I usually tend to be)
