Hi there,

I'm planning to go to Japan this summer. I'll go there to travell through the country, but also to work at farms and other places with the WWOOF-japan organisation. www.wwoofjapan.com
I am from Belgium and I'm 19 years old. I'll probably start off here at the beginning of august.

My question is simple: are there people who would like to come with me?
I'll go for 6 or 8 weeks.

Thank you :)

Well the idea of WWOOF is quite simpel. WWOOF means "willing workers on organic farms".
The organisation exists in more than 40 countries and was founded more than 30 years ago. In the beginning the only thing you could do with wwoof was working on farms, but lately there are many other activities you can join.
For example there is a temple where you can go to help with maintenance and gardening.
Basically the idea of wwoof is that you join a family who run an organic farm, an inn or whatever to work about 4 to 6 hours a day and in return you are accepted as a member of the family and you get free accomodation and meals.
I would like to stay at a wwoof host for a few weeks and then I would like to take some time off to travel through the country for a week or two. In those two weeks I'll have to look for my own accomodation and food, but that won't be much of a problem. After these two weaks of travel I would seek another host to stay for another few weeks. In all I would like to stay in Japan for six to eight weeks.

Let me know if you are interested or if you require some more information!

6 to 8 weeks is too long for me. I'd have to quit my job.

Thanks for the offer anyways!

my niece just did this program in Costa Rica, due home this week. As long as you don't expect 5 star meals & accomodations , it's OK. She did have trouble with her passport being stolen!

Wouldn't we need certain visa's, etc?

Visa's aren't necessary as long as you don't intent to stay longer then 3 months.
You can stay in Japan for up to 90 days with just a tourist passport.
At least that's how it is for Belgium, maybe American citzens can stay longer :?
