but how bout cruise ships?? It's a big business here in the states! With monster ships 5 football fields long
holding thousands of people stopping at hundreds of ports of call. Has Japan got in on this money making area yet??

They say that the history of cruising in Japan began in 1989, at the peak of the economic bubble. There are currently four ships there:
Asuka (http://www.jopa.or.jp/cruise_ships/asuka/) (NYK Cruises (http://www.asukacruise.co.jp/))
[NYK (http://www.nykline.co.jp/english/about/business/cruise.htm) also has a US subsidiary (http://www.crystalcruises.com/) with three cruise ships.]
Nippon-maru (http://www.jopa.or.jp/cruise_ships/nippon_maru/) (Mitsui OSK Passenger Line (http://www.mopas.co.jp/))
Pacific Venus (http://www.jopa.or.jp/cruise_ships/pacific_venus/) (Japan Cruise Line (http://www.venus-cruise.co.jp/))
Fuji-maru (http://www.jopa.or.jp/cruise_ships/fuji_maru/) (Nippon Charter Cruise (http://www.nc-cruise.co.jp/))
[Orient Venus, their second ship, has been laid up in Aioi since Sep. 2002.]

I added them to my favorites so I can check them all out. I'll have to reload my Japanese translation to convert
them to SOME-WHAT readable English!
Thanks!!
