If you haven't heard of shiritori it's a word game where each person in turn choses a word that follows on from the /last/ sound of the /previous/ word.

The game ends when someone gives an invalid word or uses a word ending in n (ん).

(Maybe this should be in the Chat section ... but if it was I suspect many of those here for the Japanese language wouldn't spot it.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shiritori

Minor points ... 昨日 (きのう) finishes with a う, while 十 (とお) finishes with a お - even if the end of each does sound exactly the same.

If a word ends in ちゃ etc. the next word starts with ちゃ not や. (I think :relief: )

Anyway, to start off ... 開始

I remember doing this on the old Maktos forum. Heh, anyway, here's mine: 失敗.

I don't think this game works very well on a message board. :D :D

Haha, and I thought it had something to do with knowing birds (知り鳥).

Actually there's an episode of Galaxy Angels that is based on Shiritori. One of the characters keeps using illegal words like わんこ and losing the game.

How can you use "ikioi"?

Are we playing English Shiritori? Ushi (U-shi) ends in shi.

So,

Shimauma

I guess I'll break the cycle, since I can't think of a katakana word that starts with き, so my new word is 気分.

OMG, you're right. I forgot about the ending words with ん rule. I'm a retard. Heh, and my other choice for a word that I was going to use was 気温, that one would have put me out too. Oh well. :(

Haha, Nangi-san always seems to get the ones that end on the elongated o, or う. Anyway, まさか! (That's my word)
