Hi,

I always thought JET only had one job you could do and that was an assistant teacher, but I see others such as:

CIR
SEA
AET (I assume this is the assistant teacher job)

What are these jobs? Can you do all 3 and get by with basic Japanese?

Thanks

Definitely can't do CIR with basic Japanese. AET is Assistant English Teacher, and you don't need to know any Japanese to do that one. SEA is something to do with sports; I'm not familiar with that job.

By the way, shouldn't that be JET in the subject line?

Yes it should be :) I can't seem to find an edit button.....

After some more search I found my answers, and I was going to change the topic as I have (possible a bad thing) had an extensive look on bigdaikon, and everything seems to negative, I am getting the feeling that possible it is only the bad experiences that people want to write about, but still it concerns me about how the AETs are practically being ignored by fellow teachers (I never expected to actually teach) and the police don't seem to like gaijins.

I was just wondering if it was really like that is it people just like to complain?

My guess from what I have read on these fora is that people just like to complain. You may want to wait for Mandylion or mad pierrot to come by and comment on that, though, as I am not a JET, and they are. As far as I know the JET experience is a positive one that people cherish for the rest of their lives.
