ああ、そう(ですか)。
Aa, sou (desu ka)?
As an aside, please try to avoid using the word "Jap." While you may not have meant it in an offensive manner, it was a derogatory term to refer to persons of Japanese descent in the United States and Canada during the Second World War and continues to have an offensive ring for many people. Instead, to refer to Japanese drama, I think it might be better to say "J-drama." :)
In my opinion, what you mentioned must be "uso"(嘘,うそ - lie).
Usooo!? = It must be a lie!! / It's hard to believe!! / Unbelievable!!! / oh really!?

If it sounded like a question, it was ああ、そう. If it sounded like an exclamation, it was 嘘. My money's on the first one.
ああ、そう seems to be the right one. thanks.
sorry about that, mayuka, even tho i meant it as a short of japanese rather than a full word, but i'll use j-*input word* from now

So for "oh" as an interjection expressing surprise there is ああ、おや、あら (female ?)、おう (male ?)....and others ?
