These concepts used to be very important to Japanese society and played a vital role in helping Japan develop to the stage it is today. They were part of the moral code. People made great sacrifices for the sake of improving society because of these ideals. However, I don't see it much in today's society (at least in Tokyo). Are these concepts still relevant? Even the sense of "haji" (shame) seems to be disappearing.
