age of consent in japan, right or wrong?

For practical purposes it's at least 16 in most places in most circumstances.

I would think so too but someone on 2ch seemed to think different. He admitted that while still blurry, the only DEFINITE sex crimes are:

-Rape/Sexual Assault
-Sex with someone under 13 (regardless of your age apparently)
-Pictures, videos, etc. of having sex with someone under 18*
-One other I can't remember.

Then again, laws aren't really enforced in Japan that often.

When you guys think about Japan's awfully low birthrate, no age of consent doesn't seem odd whatsoever. Would you set age of consent laws if your country was not reproducing sufficiently enough?

all that i can say too that one is, it gives me all the more reason to go to japan, yes i msickminded but, dont all guys have sex on the brain or just me?

I think it is a matter of cultural differences. Yes I think that 13 is way too young to have sex. You also have to consider the fact that no matter how horrible it is it still happens. All over the world. Even in the US. I can't tell you how many talk shows I have seen that have pregnant 12 year olds on them. Talk about disturbing.
