Tokyo International Party

    Hi,

    1. Person A has asked person B if they want to go and see a film, and B has asked what kind of film it is. Then A says:

    What does 話題になってる mean?

    2. This conversation is about a baseball game. One person has asked who is playing, and the second person has replied The first person then says What does the おお part mean? Is it おお as in 大? Is おお巨人 just another name for 巨人, or does it mean something more?

    3. In a section about phrases used when accepting or declining invitations, the texbook seems to be making a distinction between 招待された時 and 誘われた時. What is the difference?

    4. The following questions are about a letter which I think is inviting senior graduates to attend a welcome party for new students.

Literally I gather this is saying something about the season of bright new foliage being upon us. Is this a kind of formulaic springtime greeting?

    b) After the main text of the invitation, and before the information about the date, venue etc., there is the character 記, centred on a single line all by itself. What does this mean?

    c) The information about the date, venue etc. includes the text レストランみや and 居酒屋あいうえお. Presumably みや and あいうえお are just the names of the establishments, right?
