confusion between ageru and kureru (me wo samashite kureru)

    国際交流パーティー - Tokyo International Party

i encountered this situation while watching an anime. the context is that person B is asleep and person A is trying to wake person B up.
so person A says: me wo samashite kureru. which the subtitles translate to "i'm going to wake you up."
this leaves me a bit confused since i've always thought that kureru was used when the speaker receives a favor or action from someone. wouldn't it make more sense to say "me wo samashite ageru" in this situation since A is trying to wake B up so A is "giving" the action of waking up to B?
any help in clearing this up will be greatly appreciated.

~ Te kureru can be used when the speaker gives disadvantage to other party. This is a rude way of saying ~te ageru, as same as ~te yaru.

    thanks for the reply!

is it wrong to also interpret "me wo samashite kureru" as "i'm going to wake you up" (with the speaker implying that he receives the benefit for doing so)? is this like saying "i will take it upon myself to wake you up"? or is that described by a completely different Japanese phrase?

"Me wo samashite kureru" can mean "you will give me a favor of your waking up", but it's never used in the situation "I'm going to wake you up". I would say "Okosasetekure(Let me wake you up)" for the case.
