    Lyrics Translation!

    国際交流パーティー - Tokyo International Party

    Hey everyone,
I found myself with a folk song I like, wanting to translate it to Japanese.
Basically, it would be helpful if someone would look this over, translate it back to me (so I can see if what I tried to say is what came out), and tell me if it makes sense (as a song and grammatically).
    Here it is.

kirei na yuukata da / de
    itta burakuwataasaido* *blackwaterside
    aruite, airishu* no *Irish
    wakamono o mita

    yoruchuu watashi-tachi
    fushite, asonda
    tatte, fuku o torete,
    sayounara itte'ta

    atashi no mune ni neteru,
    yakusoku jaa nai
nichi wa nishi de nobotteru koto
    shinji saserareru

kaeru yo, chichi no niwa ni
    kaete, nakute kure
kimi no gai de, jibun no
    gonan o kangaete

    sekaijuu atashi ni niteru
    gyoushiyasui onako/hito ga inai
sekana ga toberu to, umi wa kawaita to
    atashi ni kekkon suru
    atashi ni kekkon suru

I really appreciate help on this. I love practicing Japanese, but need someone to tell me if I'm doing it right.

    Thanks,
    ~Iggy

Sorry to inform you this, but no.
There are too many problems and errors involved. There is a deluge of issues that must be discussed.

Trying this isn't a bad idea, but you should do it one at a time, like one or two lines at a time.
Then, you'll be able to learn from it.

It would be nice if you can give the original in English?

    original song

All right, here's a version of the English. It's a traditional song, Blackwater side, these lyrics are the ones from the band Altan.

One evening fair to take the air
    Down by Blackwaterside
    'Twas a-gazing all around me
That the Irish lad I spied

All through the far part of the night
We did lie in sport and play
When this young man arose and gathered his clothes
    Saying, "Fare thee well today"

That's not the promise that you made to me
When you lay on my breast
You could make me believe with your lying tongue
That the sun rose in the west

Go home, go home to your father's garden
Go home and weep your fill
And think on your own misfortune
You brought on with your want and will

For there's not a girl in this whole wide world
    As easily led as I
And when fishes can fly and the seas run dry
It is then that you'll marry I
It is then that you'll marry I

To make the lyrics fit with the tune I had to cut down what was being said... but I guess anything can pretty much fit.

Shall I start with the first verse, then?

    Here's my original poor attempt

kirei na yuukata da / de
    itta burakuwataasaido* *blackwaterside
    aruite, airishu* no (*Irish
    wakamono o mita
