Is there an online test (free, readily available) that I could take to rate my Japanese level ?

for JLPT 1,2,3 & 4

(Japanese language proficiency test)

But you need to be a subscriber to access these tests. Easy to do with a Japanese mobile phone. Just put the URL into your phone browser.
