Mountain Dew

Why don't they sell Mountain Dew in Tokyo other than like at the freakin' Taco-Bells on the military/navy bases? I was told ages ago they sold it at 7-11 but each year I've gone and each different 7-11, Lawson, Sunkus, Family Mart I've gone to they all have never heard of it. See the thing is I basically live off of it, if there was no mountain dew I'd have no real energy so being in Japan for extended periods of time always leaves me going through caffiene/mountain dew withdrawls, especially this summer.

Can anyone help me out?

Josh

Try drinking some of those "genki" drinks that Japanese are addicted to. They have plenty of caffeine.

Yeah Mountain Dew is the nerd drink of choice and I mean I dont just drink it when i'm spending 8 hours on a single game of battlenet Starcraft but I also drink it to help me skateboard and have stamina in the bedroom. On top of those three I was always told that Yellow#5 lowers your sperm count, GOOD, cause I don't want any of my chickens cluckin' out babies.

I love Tokyo Japan and Sailormoon,

Josh

Isn't funny how Vanilla Coke bombed here in Japan!
It's rarely in vending machines.
Since hubby and I are on a sugarless diet right now we shouldn't drink it, but actually yesterday we had one before it disappears for good....yumm! ;)

I think Pepsi and it's ad-wizards really need to take over the soft-drink industry in Japan.

What Pepsi should do is discuss product-placement in Teen magazines and sponsor events at trendy night clubs or fashion malls like 109 in Shibuya. What i'd do if I was working with pepsi's Ad-team is like have some really dorky Japanese kid with glasses and messed up teeth drinking mountain dew, he'd put on a backwards cap, then i'd step in as a stunt-double, get on a skateboard and have a bunch of hot girls like all feeling my chest and stuff while they say all this crazy Japanese, then the scene would then cut back and it'd be showing the dork japanese guys face and he'd be like talking to all the hot girls he met while he was skateboarding, like "hold on I have another call," , "hey could you hold on a second I have another call" and then "hey baby can you hold on? I wanna drink some mountain dew."

Do you know how popular mountain dew would be then??! I swear Pepsi you need to e-mail me, I will work for travel exspenses (luxury hotels, unlimited room service, wholesale boxes of condoms and a sponsorship of KY brand liquid) paid in exchange for my ad-wizardry.

Pepsi you can email me at: 1skatebuyer@excite.com

Mountain Dew is overrated, and so are the Japanese stamina drinks. If a caffeine buzz is what you're after, just keep caffeine on hand.

http://www.mtenutrition.com/caf357mag201.html

USD23.95 will get you the same amount of caffeine as is contained in 2000 bottles of those stamina drinks, all of which have ony 50mg each. Mountain Dew doesn't contain one whole heck of a lot more.

I don't know if you're familiar with the price of those stamina drinks or not. A very popular one, Ripobitan D, usually retails for about 148 yen per bottle in convenience stores. Purchased one-at-a-time, that would come to 310,800 yen with tax. The equivalent amount of caffeine, in pill form, can be ordered for USD23.95. Figure roughly 110 yen per dollar and you're looking at 2,635 yen. It doesn't take a genius to figure out which is the more economical if a caffeine boost is all one is after.

According to http://www.nsda.org/WhatsIn/caffeinecontent.html a 20oz botle of Mountain Dew provides 92mg of caffeine. We're going to need 1097 bottles of Mountain Dew to equal the amount of caffeine in that 500ct bottle of caffeine pills. Figure 140 yen per bottle and you're looking at about 152,180 yen.

So there are some of the options.

Pay 310,800
Pay 152,180

Or pay 2,635 plus a little bit more for shipping.

It all adds up to the same amount of caffeine buzz, which is all the original poster seems to care about.

I will add that the link I provided was to a firm I have done business with several times and recommend highly for the quality and speed of their service.

So you see, Josh, it's actually more like saying "Why pay for 150 beers when all you have to pay for is one?"

It's not just the caffiene though, I think it's the orange juice, yellow #5 and sugar that's mixed into the contents of moutain dew that intrigues me aswell, you know?

I think energy-drinks are also associated with Salary men and if mountain dew was advertised as a cool, somewhat "extreme" energy drink for youth to devour (and lower their sperm count,) well then you'd have yourself a money-maker.

So Pepsi you need to distribute your product in Tokyo or else I'll be like those dudes who take eight-trillion boxes of Levis Jeans overseas to Japan and I'll be the millionaire (with the introduction of 2liters of mountaindew!!! mowahahaa,)

Your question isn't entirely clear, Budd. Are you asking about where to buy honking big bottles of caffeine pills in Japan? You can't.

You can, however, order them online and have them mailed here. Notice the link?

I also wish they sold 40s of Olde English 800 Malt Liqour in Japan too, I hate roaming the streets with tall-cans, I feel so ghetto when i'm doing that.
