Shiina Ringo

Well, I've been out of the jpop loop for a while now, but my favorite artist is still Shiina Ringo. I've pretty much worn Muzai Moratorium and Shouso Strip into submission (didn't care too much for the 3 disc 3 song 'album' and last I heard from her was Mayonaka wa Junketsu. Anyway, I heard there's a new album and that she did a cover album before that too O.o

So, can anyone tell me if they've heard either? What did you think of them?

I've heard both and i have to say that she's making giant leaps when it comes to her writing and production skills.
The cover album is great. Some of the songs were completely unrecognizable compared to the originals and the overall sound of that album was a taster for her next studio album.

On that next studio album she combined so many different (ethnic) styles and instruments, while maintaining a solid listener-friendly sound. Ah, can't really describe it, you have to listen to it.

Ok, I totally need to get these now.
Sounds like it might have been worth the 3 year wait for a new album from her. Is it true that she also had a baby?? I guess that makes my chances of having her become my girlfriend somewhat lower...Anyone else here find her just totally sexy?? Must be the nurse outfit in Honnou

So, is yesasia.com still the place to buy CDs or is there now a new and better place? I have so far downloaded all my Jpop except for her CDs...They're just so good

Yeah, she had a baby, but i'm not sure if she got married as well, so...

Heh, i'm officially a YesAsia associate since yesterday, but i've never ordered anything from them. I always use CD-Japan. They were the first Japanese cd-shop i found on the net. They've always proven to be reliable and fast, so i haven't used anything else since.

An associate? Meaning you got an account for them? lol
I'll give CD-Japan a try.

I'm actually friends with this girl that looks like her....so cute and dangerous at the same time ^_____^

So, what's your favorite song of her? Mine is Memai (B side to Koko de Kisu shite). Best served on a cloudy day.

Well, associate actually means that you can now order cd's at YesAsia through my website. I will get 10% commission for every item sold through my site.

I can't really say what my favorite is, because i usually only listen to music in my car, which means i never see the tracklistings. Besides, it quite depends on my mood as well.

If you don't mind my jumping in on this conversation, I was introduced to her work with "Honno", but after getting Shouso Strip I've found that "Gibusu" has really grown on me... such a cool, seething song...

Gibusu was the first song i heard from her back in 1999. Took me a while before i finally found a full album, but i was sure glad i did.

Yeah, the first time I got introduced to her music was at my friend's house when he showed me the PV for Honnou. I had him burn me all the mp3s he had of her and I bought her 2 albums like 2 weeks later

She released a new single last month, titled "Ringo no Uta" and she'll release a live DVD this upcoming week.

Didnt she recently have a child? Or was that Aikawa Nanase?

Regardless, Shiina rocks. No question there.

It would be boss to see her in concert. She puts on stellar shows.

I'm going in November 04, and considering I'll be there for the rest of my days, I reckon I'll be able to see her live again; not that it really matters, I'm just gloating, ahahah.

Heh.

You have seen her live? Do you know how much concert tickets costs in Japan?

Hmm... you just go to Japan and gonna plan to stay in there? What do you do and how that is possible? I assume you are older than me ;)

I've seen her once live about 3 years ago. First time to the big J. best time of my life.

I probably am older than you. I know a bunch of people over there now who will help me out by giving me a place to stay, setting me up with a job, etc. etc.

I'm making the move to pursue my visual kei career with my band.

Hey! You have a band. Tell me more =) I played in a band once but it didnt work out. The band members didint get along so well.. but I still play electric and acoustic guitar, electric piano and sing. I've tried to figure out how to play Ringo Shiina songs but I'm not so good getting the right notes or chords... =(

Hmm... how was the concert? Still remember. Have any pictures? ;) I assume it was quite different from the concerts that she helds nowdays...

Yeah you must be older, I'm 20 years old and still studying.

Sheena Ringo recently released a dvd called 'electric mole'. Two hours of an astonishing concert, interrupted from time to time by some backstage footage.

The average price for a concert ticket should be somehow between 5000 and 6000 Yen, depending on the location the concert takes places and the popularity of the artist.

While Sheena Ringo ended her tour somehow in september, I suppose you'll have to wait for the release of a new album to see her again on tour. According to how active she was in 2003, this could somehow happen in a not so distant future i guess ?

The concert was f***ing loud! I almost had a seziure from the color schemes she was using with the lights....that and I was so sh*t-faced that basically any odd light blew my mind.

My band is called Kigatsu. We are gearing up to head over to Japan fall of '04. I'm not much older than you, by the way, Wasabi. I'm only 21.

You have seen it I assume =) What songs she plays in that DVD? I have seen some concer which was little odd but still great. I think it was Baishou Ecstasy. Mostly songs from Karuki Zamen Kuri no Hana.

5000-6000 Yen, thats not so bad. Even I could afford it =) Do you know is Ringo Shiina's concerts sold out quickly? How popular is she?

I really hope she would held a concert during my visit to japan next year around summer...

I have a band too. No plans to go to Japan, though :-/
