Anyone Read December 6 ??

It's by Martin Cruz Smith who also wrote Gorky Park.
I'm only half way through it and it holds my attention which is hard these days. It gives a lot of insite into how people felt in Japan before the Pearl Harbor attack, and what life was like then in Japan. It reminds me a little of Last Samuri, in that the main character is an American. I got my copy on the bargin hard cover table, only $5 bucks.I'd recommend it to anyone interested in Japanese history.

Frank

2 thumbs up!

I love...

reading novels and I certainly will give that book a try. Thanks!

I would also like to recommend James Clavell's SHOGUN. Its a book set in medieval Japan. The main character is also of foreign origin, a European navy captain who was called Anjin-san when he came to Japan. The book presents among other things contrasting attitudes towards way of life, the Japanese one and the European one. I got my book through a used books shop for about $1.50.

Its a really good read and I was touched by the story as a whole.
