Ichiro Breaks Hit Record!
Ichiro has done it!! What a guy - he is just so awesome.
Ichiro's play is a very bright side in a very poor season for the Seattle Mariners (my home team). He's every Mariners fan's number one favorite player and a very popular player nationally and internationally. Go Ichiro!!

Ichiro is by far the best pure hitter in baseball. He doesn't pack much power, but I think he is probably everyones first choice when speaking of a lead off hitter. You know I think his avg is .371 right now (leading the major leagues!)...I wouldn't be surprised if he were to become the first player (since Ted Williams hit .406 in 1941) to hit over .400 for a season (of course not this year, but maybe in the next year or two)
Go Ichiro...I love watching him play. He also has one of the best arms baseball!

The thing that really amazes me about Ichiro is that you can throw the ball anywhere near him and he'll hit it. Pitches that would just be balls for most batters are base hits for him. Not to mention his speed. The boy's got the kind of talent you don't see very often. Japanese baseball fans must be busting at the seams to see one of their own do so well.

Congrats to Ichiro! He deserved the break the record! As a baseball fan (though cursed to live in Philadelphia and watch the wretched Phillies!), it was great to see him achieve greatness.
Ever since Ichiro came to the States, I've been a follower of his career, one thing that rarely gets any press is that not only is Ichiro a great hitter, he's also an equally great defensive player with a deceptively strong and accurate arm. And he's still young enough to be a superstar in America for several more years to come! Go, Ichiro, GO!!!!

Not to mention that he was robbed of another hit in the game! The man can hit; there is no doubt about that. You're right about him being the lone bright spot for the Mariners, though, Brooker. These guys showed so much promise just a few years ago, but have failed to come close to the success that they had then. It's a bit sad, really. I'd like to see them win a series or two (anybody but the Yankees).

They looked really promising at the beginning of THIS season and somehow it just didn't work out. It ain't easy being a sports fan in Seattle. The only team from Seattle to ever win a championship is the Sonics and that was back in the 70s. I'll dance naked in the streets if the Seahawks ever win the Super Bowl. They're looking real good this year - the team to beat.
