He rocks. And he rolls. All night long, sweet Suzie.

Sorry.

He really is quite talented.

Appeared in a lead role in the Saurai Comedy, Samurai Fiction, reprising his roll in a cameo for Red Shadow.

He scored the music to Samurai Fiction.

He did the walking in intro music in The House of Blue Leaves portion of Kill Bill Vol. 1.

He rocks.

Ant

For a little further background, he was previously in the Japanese new-wave-ish band BOOWY (typically written where the second O is actually a capital Greek "phi") along with fellow guitarist/vocalist Kyosuke Himuro. That was a pretty sweet band as well... "Marionette" was probably their biggest hit, but I personally prefer their song "Justy".

IIRC, Hotei-san was also involved with a music project called Complex which featured vocalist Koji Kikkawa... I've only heard their song "1990", which is pretty good.

He was also briefly involved with the later days of the supergroup Asia, long after their glory days of "Heat of the Moment" and such.

He gets around, bringing good music wherever he goes...

Hope this helps, and welcome!

Thanks for the information

Thanks so much for the information about Hotei.
I have never been stage stuck about anyone in my life, but there is something electric about this man and his performances that has me completely enthralled.
I'm somewhat worried, since it has almost become an obsession.LOL
I have bought every DVD and VHS formatted video that I have found on e-bay and other Asian store sights, along with music.
I even bought laser disks, but I have no Laser disk player, odd right?
I saw Samurai Fiction during the Christmas season of 2003, and that's when the fasination began.
So, anything that you can tell me is of great interest to me.
Kind regards,
Vicki

Thank you for the information about Hotei.
You are absolutely correct, he does rock.
It's gotten me to the point, where I don't even play an instrument, but I have asked for a carbon electric guitar for Christmas, so that I can learn.
I swear, I am too old for this.LOL
Regards,
Vicki

I saw him perform back in 2000 I think...either that or 2001...or maybe 99..at any rate, he performed Bambina with some support members of Buck-Tick, and it was just kosher beyond belief. I just wish I hadnt been drinking that night, and maybe I'd remember more of the performance.
