HK underground music.

I guess alot of people dont get to hear alot of HK music especially the underground stuff, which is where most of the good stuff is at.

Gonna introduce you guys to King Lychee, a HK Hardcore band. Some of the lyrics is in Cantonese, alot in English but the music is univeral so the language shouldnt matter.

Some informations about King Lychee:

King Ly Chee is Hong Kong's pioneer hardcore band that started back in 1999. We've just released our second record called Stand Strong...

To the members of this band, hardcore is so much more than just music. We started this band in a time when kids of our city had no sense of purpose in their lives. We brought hardcore to them, because when we were their age - we had the same feeling of emptiness until we heard about hardcore.

Our music and lyrics always contain a message relevant to life in our home - but the issues discussed (racism, materialism, music industry, amongst many others) are pretty relevant to the world over.

To find out more about us, hit up our website: www.kinglychee.com for PLENTY of more info, video's, daily news updates, an awesome forum to see what Hong Kong kids are about...

We don't get much of an opportunity for Westerners to get into us or find out about us...please feel free to spread the word. Afterall that's what hardcore SHOULD be about right? Helping bretheren out...

Peace,
King Ly Chee

They seem cool. I like the music - but I guess I don't care to much for all the loud screaming. But nonetheless, I can see myself supporting their band. Thanks for the info.

Cool i'll check them out.

I know what you mean about the HK music scene, none of the pop stars is worth listening to anymore...90% of them are plucked out of modelling agency and made into singers...
Even one guy was a swimmer or something and he turned into a singer...

I think it's a shame that the bands in HK have to stay underground, alot of the stuff they are putting out there is really good stuff !

HK mainstream music scene is really sick, only very very few singers can really sing, such as Jacky Cheung, and whats worse is that the fans don't care about music, they just want to see goodlooking guys and girls, the songs just sound like all the same

I believe it has to do with Wong Ka Kui's death [the heart and soul of the legendary rock band Beyond], he was pushing forward HK music during his lifetime,
it might be hard to imagine in US,UK,Japan, because they have so many talents..but HK is a city of about six million people, without Ka Kui,HK music took 3 steps backwards

as a music lover born in HK, I feel it is such a shame that there are so less good artists that sings in my mothertongue, most of the stuffs I listen to are of foreign languages...

I just HATE them, also this band called xGuan36x, who claim to be a straight-edge band...

I´m sorry, but hardcore and punk in Hong Kong doesn't exist!! If you want an amazing punk/hardcore scene, try Philipinnes, they're just crazy... well, they were, they killed punk on the 90's (fortunately) because there were big fights between punk "crews" in there.

See you later.
