For someone what has no idea of the Japan music scene

Argh, i don't know half of the artists you're mentioning here.
If you like Shakira, i suggest you dig into the music of Mondo Grosso (a.k.a Shinichi Osawa), Bird and perhaps Monday Michiru. It's latin-jazz, but it's the closest thing i can think of. As for Joe Cocker and Roy Orbison... Hmm, you might like some of the solo work of Keisuke Kuwata, the leadsinger of The Southern Allstars. Try his single "Tokyo". Also listen to Kyosuke Himuro. Some of his ballads could be interpreted as sounding remotely like Roy Orbison. Singles "Diamond Dust" and "Eternity" are the weapons of choice in this case. As for the other artists. Never heard of them overhere in Europe. |
